Superman and Star Wars are probably interchangeable right at the top

Vader's first appearance in Empire Strikes Back.

ET "Adventure on Earth" and Hook "Flight to Neverland" must not be slept on!

This is a great thread and tough question.
Has to be the Raiders March though. Close second and third would be between Duel of Fates and the first three French horn notes in Jurassic parts theme.

can’t tell you how often duel of the fates randomly pops into my head.

I know it’s not iconic, but his Shindler’s List score is hauntingly eerie. I love it.

IMO, “iconic” doesn’t necessarily mean best or favorite. To me, it means prestigious and recognizable. There are countless paintings more impressive than the Mona Lisa, for example, but none are more iconic.
In that respect, I would have to go with Jaws or Star Wars.
Jaws is pushing 50 and yet I think tons of people (even a lot of teenagers) would recognize the opening notes of the main title. And the greatness of the score had a profound impact on the greatness of the movie. The music was the shark for most of the film.
Star Wars is such a huge, multigenerational franchise that the main title that plays at the opening crawl of every movie has to be in there by default - and it’s great music too.

Jaws
Just two notes of brilliance and everyone over a certain age knows exactly what's going on.

Star Wars I’d say is the most instantly well known, and there are several compositions that would fit that.
Duel of the Fates is the best one imo and still gets me hyped anytime I hear it

Star Wars. His motifs from that franchise - specifically the OT - are iconic. Duel of the Fates from the PT is also spectacularly memorable.

Star Wars and by a long shot.
He has some amazing credits but he helped propel Star Wars from campy to epic and helped make it what it is today.

You're right. Just those two notes are haunting

In terms of the scores that give me chills
1. Star Wars
2. Jaws
3. Jurassic Park
4. Duel of the Fates
5. E.T.
Harrison Ford jokingly complaining about Indiana Jones theme following him everywhere

Iconic has to be Star Wars
But we gotta show love to Schindler's List
