One thing I love about Trump and why i'm voting for him in 2024

Is the fact he's FOR expanding public transportation!! Our party seems to be stuck in the stone age when it comes to alternative ways of riding. Elon Musk is on record of wanting to fund the project. What the heck is wrong with these folks like cotton? Give me one good reason why we can't have bullet trains.
It's an embarrassment that Tom Cotton reps my home state of Arkansas.
Public transit means development, JOBS and a bustling community.
Plus, less idiots who can't drive on the road!
Most of America LOVES trains! What the frick is wrong with our base?
quote:
“I’m excited to commit $100M to funding to @MiamiDadeCounty, FL in @USDOT funding to connect fast-growing communities through state-of-the-art transit service!” Trump wrote in one of a series of 10 tweets on May 28 that announced each area’s award separately. “Fast, safe, and beautiful infrastructure!”

Why the hell is the federal government funding transportation in one small portion of one state?

Federal government should not be in the transportation business. It's simply not their role and will cost 10,000x more than if it was done privately.

frick that. You lost me at "Our party". When did Republicans recruit all these big government fans?
Also - frick the republican 'party'.

I love titties but don’t need the government funding boob jobs
frick off with this big government boondoggle shite. High speed passenger rail is absolutely not needed on any wide scale nationwide

Do what? That is a much better use of the billions being wasted on Potato's laundromat.

The same reason governments and private companies don't build huge stadiums for women's sports.

Some investment in mass transit is not the worst idea, but it's not like I have any faith for the DOT, state governments, and municipalities to use the funds with any kind of efficiency. So long as government contracts are full of kickbacks and little to no accountability, these initiatives just serve as a feel-good plank with no reflection in reality.

My mom was born in 1934 in eastern Pennsylvania.
They had mass transit. They were called trolleys.
Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Scranton, Wilkes barre, etc.
Trolleys and buses throughout the country.
They are no longer there. Haven’t been for 70 years. Why? Automobiles.
When I went to high school, few kids had their own cars. Most rode buses, even as seniors.
Today, everyone in high school drives. Buses are virtually empty at the high school level.
Elementary and middle schools have low ridership because mommy and daddy drop off and pick up their kids. Massive traffic jams 730-830, 230-4.
Global climate change? Reduce fossil fuels? BS.
We need to reduce government barriers and become as energy independent as we can.
It’s not all of the above. It is coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear for electricity. It is oil for the transportation sector.
BOOMER? Yes. I built this country in a small way, engineering, design, construction of coal, nuclear, and natural gas units. Operation too.
And I’ve got the common sense and engineering background to understand wind and solar is not the answer, at all, and electric cars are only affordable by the elite, who despise me.
I am deplorable.
Trump won. BIGLY.

Probably the most ridiculous reason that I have seen cited for supporting the man.

OP sounds like a politician that would directly pocket money from this.

Can you explain the downvotes?
I’m waiting.

if he can commit that much to public transportation, why does his company need or get massive taxpayer money?
Posted on 4/2/22 at 10:12 pm to lsugrad1980
Trump locked us all down to "slow the spread" and left us vulnerable

These are the hatingest arse haters this side of the Mississippi. Downvotes are actually good now, means you made folks think about something they didn’t want to think about. Made then look deep and examine their souls……and they weren’t so sure they liked what they saw.
