what's you opinion of this place ? we got in late yesterday from gainesville and i was starving .. didn't really wanna do the fast food burger/taco thing and it was about 9PM .. said "what the frick" and went to applebees at sherwood and coursey ... food was better than i thought it would be, although it was prolly because i was ravenous ..

Somewhere between Joe's Crab Shack and Chili's on the chain restaurant scale.

I think that could of been it. I give full props to Chili's, but I'm not a fan of Applebees.
I pulled a similar WTF when I didnt feel like cooking, and was tired, so we went to the local Applebees. Wow- it was bad. Their menu is a lot smaller than it used to be, one page was Weight Watchers stuff, and the place was just gross.

i noticed that too .. i haven't been there in three years, easily .. i had some mac, cheese, and chicken shite in a bowl .. i certainly could have done better myself .. but it wasn't horrible ..

Real hit/miss depending on what town you're in....
Like if youre in BR they tend to not be so good cuz its at the lower end of the spectrum
If you go to Magnolia, MS though....its 'THE PLACE' to dine in town, so they tend to be cleaner-better service.
I guess thats the same for most of those types of chains (Applebees/Chilis/Ruby Tuesday/TGIF).

I've been twice in the last 5 years. The most recent time being about 4 months ago. I've found that they've improved their quality of food.

I guess that depends on where you put Chili's... but in general, yes.
A better comparison would be to put Applebee's, Calendar's and Bennigan's side by side... which would you choose out of three?

i'd actually prolly go with calendar's .. bennigan's is so horribly run by the mall of louisiana, it's pathetic ..

I'd say Calendar's just because I havent been to one in years. I've been to Applebee's and Bennigan's in the past year and both are not great.
IMO, as far as typical every day chains go it's
1. Chili's then Calendar's the Bennigan's then, in dead gross last, Applebee's

I had one of their bugers recently at lunch time and it wasn't to bad at all.

An evening of dinner and dancing at the Applebees.

Years ago it was way below Chili's, now it is above. Chili's has gone to shite over the last few years. Service sucks, food poorly prepared and cold, not worth the money they charge for it.

I'd take Calendars. There Catfish Calendars is the best catfish dish in town.

they have a real good santa fe chicken salad
i used to get the chicken and broccoli alfredo...it was about as good as mall pizza place food...and the quesadillas are edible
