Has travel ball taken over every sport

This has gotten out of hand. Seems like every weekend we are in a different hotel, state, different sport. Sometimes splitting for the different sports because they all overlap. There aren’t even local options anymore.

Travel ball sounds miserable as a parent

No one held a gun to your head telling you your kid had to play travel ball

Specialization is killing sports.
You gotta have your kids play multiple sports and work different muscle groups or you are gonna keep having kids having ACL injuries in football or UCL's in baseball.

I call it tournament ball for baseball in the Baton Rouge area. There really isn't a need to travel far out of town for a tournament. Now if from a rural area in North Louisiana or West Louisiana I can see it.

With all my kids, it hasn’t happened to me yet, nor to any of my kids’ friends seemed to be a choice - I admit I could be wrong

I remember Sinbad did a comedy special awhile back. He talked about his kids playing AAU ball and all the parents praying that their son’s team would lose so they could go home. He said his son’s team was losing and all the parents were happy thinking they were all going home then somebody on the team made the game winning 3 pointer at the buzzer to advance to the next game. Sinbad said all the parents said DAMN and a lot of cussing lol.

I dated a travel volleyball coach once... one weekend in Georgia, next weekend in Texas, next weekend home, next weekend Florida... all for only 2 guaranteed games (better hope they dont suck so the trip is "worth it")... fricking ridiculous

With leagues folding that becomes the only option. It’s ridiculous.

Just give up. He's not a scholarship player and he never will be.

A lot of the travel ball shite is parents living through their kids. I’m not pushing my kid to do that if he doesn’t want to.

Yes. I know the situation - it’s why my kids no longer play sports
It’s unfortunate

But it’s the only way they’ll get a scholarship!

The problem is that if they want to play sports, it’s sometimes the only option. Especially in baseball, softball, and soccer.
My son likes baseball but he hated travel ball. He did it for one season and he was over it after the 2nd tournament.
