Sony will likely be at a disadvantage there. The new service is not expected to feature its biggest titles on the day they come out. The upcoming God of War Ragnarök, for example, is unlikely to be offered on the streaming platform right away, said one of the people familiar with the plan.
I'm out

Why should they put $60 brand new triple A games on a $10/mo service? That’s retarded, particularly when Sony has several properties that aren’t geared toward micro transactions but are cinematic type experiences

It's only first party titles, it's still in it's infancy, and still trying to expand their subscriber base. Look for the price to increase in the next several years. Even if it were $20/mo, it's still a hell of a deal even if you are only a minimal gamer. Even more so if you have kids.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I’m having a hard time buying. Expound?

And the widening gap of future exclusives, i.e. Bethesda titles, has Sony swinging blind.
If Sony just combines PSPlus(Basically Xbox Gold) and PS Now (A shitty version of old school gamepass), they will lose.
They need a service that offers some heavy hitter new releases, or they won't be able to compete. PS5 and Series X are basically equal in hardware. Xbox has made big moves to equalize the exclusives-gap. But Xbox still has gamepass ultimate, and puts their day one exclusives on there.

All I want is more couch coop/split screen games. They have really fricked up in that category. I understand they want more money, but there are a shite ton of people who’d buy a ps5 or Xbox if they had more couch coop games.

Agreed.
As somebody who has Gamepass Ultimate as well as the PS Plus/Now combo I can say w/o hesitation that the Microsoft offering is far better.

Don’t they already have this with PlayStation now?

Gamepass has day 1 games

This service will live and die by the "classics" they put on it.
Realistically though, it'll probably end up like Xbox's foray into backwards compatibility. They'll make a concerted effort at first, but at some point, they'll realize so much of the PSX/PS2 library is tied up in licensing that those games are essentially impossible to re-release.
I don't see PS3 games being added at all, but we'll see.
I could care less about the streaming aspect of it. The streaming on PSNow is garbage tier.
If above mentioned classics are streaming only, this service is dead in the water and proves that Playstation needs new leadership.

Games don't stay $60 for long, and if people on a gamepass situation play those games and like them, they will invest more into that specific game or franchise.

I am not defending Sony's decision to not release Day 1 titles on their GamePass service, but I would at least say that these games cost a lot of money to make and don't typically rely on microtransactions to make money post-launch.
That is totally different than most Microsoft exclusives which are mid-tier games at best or DLC farms (Forza, Halo).

Truth. There are pitifully few of those, these days.

Those games are available at launch on GamePass and very much playable without DLC and micro-transactions.
Gamepass has all day 1 first party releases, and is real disingenuous of you to downplay that for Sony feels.

If Sony really wanted to make money going forward, they would simultaneously release on PC what were previously PS exclusives and charge a 50% surcharge on Steam for the privilege. We would probably still buy the shite.
Though I have a sneaking suspicion that what's holding them back is that they don't want a Day 1 like-for-like comparison to their console version.

If Sony puts in even half the effort MS has done with back wards compatibly I would be happy. Not having ANY PS3 games playable except through PS NOW is pathetic.

yeah they would sell more consoles that are already sold out

If true, this would be a sign that Sony still doesn't understand why Game Pass is doing so well.
ETA: They clearly understand that Game Pass is the future and they have to respond to it, but everything they've done so far has been the wrong move.
