I married one; however, my wife doesn’t complain much about it. When she does it’s normally a bad arse kid that needs an arse whippin though, not money. I make substantially more than her though and she never has to worry about money.
I married one also (she's now out of the classroom and is an administrator).
She's the most level-headed woman I've ever known. Doesn't get all dramatic about silly stuff and doesn't generally engage in hyperbole.

I married a teacher of RN's. Has her PhD in nurses and then teaches at the university. No complaints.

Try substituting, and you’ll change your mind in 5 minutes. I quit after 15 years because there is no discipline and parenting is very absent these days.
Help me understand this better. Most people would change their mind in 5 minutes, but it took you 15 years?
These 2 things are in conflict. Why didn’t you focus on a different career path after 5 minutes? And if you did, why did it take you 15 years? Care to elaborate?

Never dated one, but I'm married to one. (she didn't get into teaching till after we got married )
Teaching is a difficult profession. Some get bitter due to letting the negatives overcome them, and some find ways to keep their passion fresh. So, what that really means is...the character of the person matters more. Someone who is inclined to negativity, who is willing to give in to the inertia of "good enough" and the subsequent dissatisfaction it provides, will be the same whether they're a teacher, a DMV clerk, or a doctor. Your relationship is with the person, not their profession.
That said, there are benefits of having a spouse who is a teacher when you have kids - no worries about after school care or holiday/ summer vacation care, and your kids can't get away with acting a fool in class because they'll get told on as fast as lightning.
I try to listen to the complaining, and find a way to ask questions even if it makes zero sense to me. Seems to help to let the emotional garbage out, then apply rational thought (via thinking about it in response to my question) to the issue.

Yes, teachers complain, but mostly because its the thing to do. Think esprit de corps.
I teach, I coach, I picked up a second job. My wife teaches and also has a second job.
We don't complain much about pay. I feel that I'm fairly well compensated, but there's this:
When we have a kid, due to insurance, my paycheck is going to decrease twenty percent. I'm not even going to clear 3k/month next year. I think that's a legit gripe, but instead I picked up a second job in additon to coaching.
Second gripe, no matter how good or bad I am at my job, I get the same pay. I try merely because its the right thing to do. There's no other incentive.
You might consider my post in order to gain a more plenary perspective regarding the profession.

Are we talking about Marines or teachers?
I married a teacher. She was teaching elementary in Louisiana when we first started dating but moved into teaching special needs kids when we moved to Texas in 1996. She has since become the Special Needs Director for her district. She can complain with the best of them. Mostly about parents.

Dated one for eight months, it was going nowhere and when I ended things it was because it was like I was dating the human embodiment of Eeyore. The non-stop whining and complaining about the job was just too much to take because it was all the time - regardless if we were alone or visiting friends/family, and when I suggested she find another job or go back to school for a different degree she acted like I put a revolver to her head.
Never again.
Never again.
