Johnson’s loyalty to Berry and Riley Cooper has cost us 3 losses this year.. Berry needs to DH and Cooper shouldn’t pitch again. Guys if no changes are made we will have a very long season

Agreed - Cooper pitching and Berry fielding are impossible to defend given how they’ve done all season.

Not benching Thompson is a bigger issue

Who is he being loyal to by playing Berry in the field? Certainly not LSU. And not even Berry. He has been exposed in the field more than anybody I can remember. And it’s obviously carrying over and affecting his hitting. He opens up so much on every swing from the left side. He’s skilled and powerful enough that he can somehow keep his hands back occasionally and barrel the frick out of some into the ether (I’m really surprised he’s able to keep all of them fair), but he sure does hit into some 4-3 dribblers for the best hitter in college.Amd what the frick is he doing from the right side? Hitting like .150? He is so in his own head right now, and Paul is not doing him any favors. I can’t imagine how terrible he feels right now. It’s not his fault. They are asking him to do things he is simply incapable of doing.

This team is just not very good. I hope they come around, but we need pitchers in a big way. The errors are inexcusable at this level (it's not just Berry) and there is no fire. Too much talent to be this shitty, time for Johnson to earn that $.

And that's Johnson being loyal to a fault. There's plenty enough sample size to see his capabilities.

Paradiddler writes….In one sentence…this team is just not very good. In the last sentence of his post…too much talent to be shitty.

Welcome to the Rant.

Riley Cooper is just not good. Other than a situational matchup he is not going to contribute

Berry is a damn anomaly. How can anyone that hits like that be so bad defensively. He should DH period

You make no sense. I said it before and got downvoted like crazy but no this team isn’t very good. We knew it coming in. Johnson had to bring in some transfers just to limit the damage but outside of crews and Morgan, Mainieri left a bare roster.

It’s a rebuild. Give the guy a full recruiting class. You’ll see a difference

LSU starts 3 first round position players in Morgan, Crews, and Berry.. Guys like Dugas and Doughty have been incredibly productive SEC players.

LSU has plenty of talent. It’s not a perfectly built team, but one that should compete in a regional and have a good shot to win it. It’s early, and sometimes things take a bit to jell in baseball, but talent is not a very good excuse for poor performance.

And this is supposed to prove what? Rankings are all BS too. Rankings are the personal opinions of talking heads, and self proclaimed experts on TV. Until the season has played out no one knows how good those rankings were.

I don’t know how much is loyalty versus trying to give Berry an opportunity to work things out in the field. Let’s not downplay the impact of Berry missing the Fall. Berry being even serviceable at 3B gives LSU the best chance of competing at the highest level. The question is when is it time to cut bait? Last night may have been it. I don’t blame Johnson for trying to make it work. If he allows it to continue at this point, that will probably change my perspective.

Cooper is horrible. Thought kid was injured that was why he was carrying all that weight. Saw that that’s his normal playing weight. Kid needs to sit down on end of bench and be cheerleader. Everything kid comes in he gets rocked. He don’t fool anybody.

I guess talking heads and TV experts send select HS seniors straight to draft too?

Or an indictment of the coaching? I can have AL rods, etc- all the best parts for a race car and still have a clunker without knowledge to build, tune, and drive it.
