Opinion on a Hoyt Torrex

My son is really getting into archery and shooting a lot. He has had a Diamondback infinity edge for several years and it’s worked well (shooting not yet hunting).
He decided he wanted a new bow and has researched the crap out of bows. Yesterday he found and bought a Hoyt Torrex
Anyone hunt with one? He’s almost 16 and still growing so I just wanted something that had an adjustable draw length.

I have the Torrex.
I shot basically everything before deciding and the Torrex just felt the best in my hand.
I liked 3 deer with it this year, so it does it’s job.

Not familiar with that bow but a bow hunter for 30yrs.
Any new bow from any of the top manufacturers will be fine.
Did he buy it online or a pro shop? Setting one up and tuning is key and a well tuned slow shooting 15yr old bow is better than a untuned improperly set up brand new flagship bow.
Correctly spined/length arrows is another issue that many younger or growing shooters run into due to changing setups but same arrows as previous.

Great bow. I had a 2013 Hoyt Charger. The Torrex replaced the Charger if you want to call it that. I had a deposit down for a Torrex XT until a pristine used RX-3 came into my life.
Hoyt makes fine bows that last, even the lower end models. I loved that Charger, almost fill guilty giving it up because it was rock solid after 8 years of abuse.

If he already bought it, what is the point of this post?

That’s how we do it here on the OB. I see you’re new so I’ll cut you some slack.
Getting opinions and tips from people who own and have used a certain bow is always helpful. Guys at the bow shop can give you a lot but there is usually certain little tricks that can make an experience better. I had an old Hoyt that I read about a certain grip that would interchange and it made a huge difference. That’s why he made the post.

This is a message board. The op wants to talk about his son's new bow.

I mean he’s not wrong, it’s better to ask before the purchase. What if it got all bad reviews on here?
I don’t have any experience with that brand, most Hoyt stuff is great though.
