I grew up seeing A-10s flying around Alexandria pretty much every day. Honestly, we didn’t know how lucky we were. I remember fishing on Indian Creek lake during the summer and they would fly by so low that you could see the pilots waving.

——Same here, floating in an inner tube in Cane River watching A-10s dancing in the sky overhead. So cool.

At 1:03 when it starts dropping down in a strafing run...those Turbo Fans sound wicked.

I can't imagine being on the receiving end of a pissed-off A-10 pilot.

I hope the AF and congress are paying attention to Ukraine, A-10s still have their place on the battleground.

What do you get when you cross Chuck Norris with a Honey Badger, then put wings on it?

When we did night maneuvers at Ft. Leonard Wood the A-10s would show up at around 2AM and strafe some old tanks that we had out on the range about 1/2 mile away. It sounded like someone was tearing the steel with their bare hands.

When my wife an I first moved to Alexandra we would drive up near the runway at night and drink a six pack of miller lites and watch them take off and land . Saw them all the time fishing . Awesome jet . Tank killer .

Lots to love about these planes. Everyone loves the cannon and for good reason, but I really like this:
quote:

The aircraft is designed to be able to fly with one engine, half of the tail, one elevator, and half of a wing missing.

One flew over my parents house near Oak Hill when I was outside, almost needed some new drawers it was so loud and unexpected. You can hear the brrrrrrt off in the distance all the time, I had no idea what it was for a long time.

My grandparents had a large pasture in Winn Parish and back when the A-10s were in Alexandria they would make practice runs at grandparent's barn all the time. Even had an Air Force officer visit and ask if that was a problem. The land is just in the middle of nowhere with few neighbors around. My grandparents loved to see them and even the horses got to where they would try to run with planes. Waiting on one side of the pasture and try to chase them. They came so often it wouldn't even bother the cows, goats or chickens. When we were fishing in the pond they would make tight turns and wave at us.
