They will keep him to get through the punishment. Then bring in the coach the AD wants

If there is significant punishment, I could see this happening.

You understand that many expect the punishment to be handed down towards the end of the year.

The coach will be hired without knowing the punishment. Scott will have to severely overpay to get someone interested or offer to a mid-major/assistant coach who is looking for their shot to get a power conference job.

That's possible. Or it's possible that no one he really wants is interested until they know more and Nickelberry stays on until there's more clarity. Many scenarios.

No they wont. Making a statement like this shows the ignorance level of some of you on here. Scott Woodward will hire a coach to get through the sanctions whatever they are, and then move the program forward. Scoot Woodward is not hiring any caretaker for the program just to turn around and hire someone else in a few years. Throw enough money and trust me, someone will come here and accept the challenge.

There was a telling LSU basketball tweet a few days ago.

LSU Basketball
@LSUBasketball
Coach Kevin Nickelberry named to
@WeAreABIS Assistant Coach Watch List ??

BATON ROUGE – LSU’s interim head coach Kevin Nickelberry, who has been a part of the basketball program for three seasons, was named to a Watch List for assistant coaches Tuesday by The Advancement of Blacks in Sports (ABIS).

Now would be the time to take a gamble on a young and promising coach without backing up the bank truck to buy one like Woodward usually does. Nickelberry could be that coach if the team responds and makes a run in the tourney.

What punishment? LSU fired Wade as soon as charges were announced.

He is 57 years old and has a win pct of .379. Absolutely not.

LSU was cited for lack of institutional control in BOTH MBB and fball. To think LSU will not be punished is wishful thinking.

Are you so naive to think that Mark Emmert hasn't told Scott what is going to happen to LSU?

He coached Howard, not some powerhouse. And I would forgive the age if he makes a good run. Otherwise we go fishing for a guy in his 30's or 40's.

What if Nickelberry goes on an impressive tournament run, and makes his bones, worthy of becoming a legit head coach?

I trust that SW will make the right hire for the future of LSU Basketball.
