I know this happens to a lot of athletes but it’s sad when your own mom and family steal from you. He says he only stays in the house and doesn’t talk to anybody. I hope he can get the help he needs and the right friends to be there for him.

That’s what happens when you create an entitlement culture in this country. It’s pathetic that people will leech off the government (productive taxpayers), but it’s even worse when you outright steal from your own family members.

NIL will only make this get worse and worse. Happened right here in my Hometown. Players basically being forced to sign with a school when they rather be somewhere else all over a few extra dollars.

They feel entitled to it since they "helped" him get that money

Absolutely. Having single moms will only make it worse because they want to keep cashing in on their meal tickets.

I always hate seeing things like this
Way too many people treat athletes like they're not people
Some deserve to get shite on a little bit, but the vast majority don't

You have to be a pretty big piece of shite to take advantage of a family member like that. Happens all the time though. Happened to Trent Richardson.

Allen Iverson’s posse screwed him all up too.

No this is what happened when people don’t have to be financially literate to make money.
When being good at basketball for a 3 year stretch leads to generational wealth over night for people that would normally flip burgers, no one respects it or knows enough to protect it

Last time I checked Harold Perkins ain’t from Texas.

Talk about the ultimate betrayal when your own flesh and blood looks at you as a walking ATM. That hurts on so many level.

Did Tawanna tell you that?

I'm thinking at the very least, put your money in a couple of Vanguard Index funds that's not to be touched, and give yourself an allowance. What's so difficult about that? Then I come back to the reality that these guys didn't have a Mom or Dad to teach them these basic skills. I would like to think I would learn these things on my own but who the hell knows.
financially literate

Nothing worse than having your own family take advantage of you. Pieces of shite.
Hopefully Beasley gets the help he needs.

But the stuff that Beasley is talking about is that his family looked at him as an ATM. It’s not that he bought 50 Ferrari’s.
So his choice is either to give up his money to friends and family with their hands out or cut ties with them.
There was an offensive linemen with the Cowboys who was very good, I think a first rounder and Pro Bowler. He ended up cutting ties with his family entirely over this issue.
