Brown was never so dumb as to "pay" through his personal bank accounts. He did have connections with people who "employed" the parents of players at cushy jobs. John Williams' mother was the "editor" of a point spread paper that was owned by a prominent lawyer from NO.

Maybe. Maybe not. What the Wade cult just doesn’t understand is that reasonably good coaches, reasonably smart coaches, reasonably savvy coaches, reasonably mature coaches, put layers between themselves and their (alleged) corruption. That way they maintain plausible deniability and they can say to the NCAA, “frick you, prove it”.

Will Wade has no such luxury bc he is either naive or stupid. No, Dale Brown was not worse than Will Wade. Nice attempt at deflecting. I give you an E for effort.

This. Their only argument is point fingers failing to realize that it doesn’t excuse anything

Dale was much more intelligent than Wade and understood how to play the game.

It amazes me that the diehard Wade brigade hates Dale Brown. Both coaches could recruit and neither were good at Xs & Os... at least Brown made 2 final 4s and would publicly challenge the NCAA rules and their hypocrisy .. Wade was just an idiot paying from an easily traceable account and never won anything of substance

I grew up with Dale and LSU basketball, and am still sad he didn't win at least one title. But you left out something.

Years coached at LSU:

Dale: 18352836

Wade: 5

Dale wouldn't have made 5 years in today's higher pressure environment. His record just wasn't good enough in that early part of his tenure. Wade was well on his way to exceeding what Dale did, and don't forget I LOVED Dale and what he did at LSU. Not one ounce of hate in my heart for him.
