Rant-Basketball: To defend Wade or not

I haven’t taken a stance either way and I see a lot of threads of Wade support and Wade bashing.
I think we can all agree that everyone is just frustrated at the total hypocrisy of the NCAA.
That’s all. I’m really just seeing how my Rant titles play out.

I enjoyed his time here at LSU and appreciate the fact he brought some consistency to the program no matter how he did it because at the end of the day I don’t think LSU was doing anything different than other schools do.
I also think he was an absolute moron for being as sloppy as he was and everything that is happening to him is 100 percent his fault. And all the consistency he brought to the program he may also be the reason the program falls off in the immediate future.

I have defended him as a coach and about the teams he has put together and how they have performed.
I understand why some may want to say he didn't so anything other programs do but there is no defense for how stupidly he did the things he did.
He put LSU in a horrible position.

For once I’m not frustrated with the NCAA. We thought it was a ghost hunt for three years, but clearly they had more than we ever thought.

While this is true, we all know the blue bloods do it and they look the other way.
There is no defending how dumb Wade was in his actions, but it’s the looking-the-other-way that annoys me.

I will always love him just on the fact that he got rid of Aleva.
If he hurt basketball it will be for the health of all the other programs at a minimum. Not like basketball was a dump without him and he brought some enjoyment there while here.

It’s indefensible honestly. He did it. There is no longer a debate. You can debate good or bad coach. But this he did do. There is nothing to defend.

I don’t think they look the other way at all. The blue bolds are smart about how they do it, and don’t leave a trail (or multiple trails, in Wades case).

Wade embarrassed lsu with the way he recruited.
He literally handled things like an idiot and he’s forever attached to LSU.
He bad mouthed lsu facilities in public! Distance yourself from this guy. He’s an a-hole.

And that’s the same thing Wade did? UNC could plausibly deny it was for that reason. Wade, either through immaturity, stupidity or hubris, made it impossible to have plausible deniability.

That wasn't at all my point. He said that the NCAA doesn't do anything extra to protect the blue bloods. I simply pointed out an example of a time where they could have had any reaction whatsoever, but came back with a complete hand wave and an excuse why it was legal.
I didn't compare to what Wade did at all. You did.

I’ve always bashed Wade and will continue to do so. He put LSU in a bad place and was sloppy with everything he did including coaching. He won on pure talent alone.

All these comparisons to other scandals mainly highlight how different Wade's case is.
These other coaches work their asses off in convoluted schemas to protect themselves and their programs.
