Looking to get a new set to replace my old Big Berthas from the early 2000's. Considering a used set of semi-nice clubs. Also seeing that pxg's are a cheaper set new, but don't know anything about them. Any advice on which way to go based on experience?

I found this website to be helpful.
https://www.globalgolf.com/articles/iron-comparison-chart-by-handicap/

A set that straddles your handicap is best if you aren't actively trying to improve.
Like the Srixon ZX4, Mizuno JPX 921 hot metal, Callaway Apex DCB, Titleist T300, Taylor Made M4, and Ping G425.

Why in the world do they have the Zx4 as lower handicap than the zx5? That makes zero sense

And Z forged more for high handicap than zx7? They drunk? the graph doesn’t make sense

I hate how clubs are recommended by handicap. I can hit irons pretty dang good. My problem is errant T shots so I'm 3 off the T and a poor short game due to lack of consistent play. But I can nut a 4 iron straight about 215. Irons aren't my problem.

I agree. My iron game ranges from shite to serviceable. Everything else is why I’m a 6. When the irons are working, I can get down to 3/4.

get you a set of straight OG blades and enjoy the game. Some old Muirfields or Wilson Goosenecks.

All true, but there are 39 sets listed, from just one production year. And it's far from an exhaustive list.
The goal is to at least point you in the right direction.

If irons are your strength, you can try irons with lower handicaps listed as theoretically, they require more skill or have less forgiveness.
Handicap is probably the best way to group it.

Srixon is so messed up on that graph it makes it hard to trust anything else

Putting 10-13 handicaps with z forged is a disaster waiting to happen

Good luck. Ordered new clubs around Valentine’s Day and was informed Thursday they would not be getting in until June 16.

The Goosenecks were a man's club.
