safe, homogenized soft/mainstream rock in the same tradition as Fleetwood Mac

Love the guitar solo on Hold The Line
He was 19 when he played that.
Great musicians!
Kimball was an absolute monster
Trivia….if you listen closely to The Tubes….She’s a Beauty, you can hear Kimball singing harmony parts.

1. Anyone who is a musician can hear the complexities and creativity in their arrangements.

Did you know the current lead singer is the son of film composer John Williams?

Their singer, Bobby Kimball, is from Vinton, LA, and is a McNeese grad. That's all I got. They were popular when I was in HS, but that was a long time ago.

Fleetwood Mac is a few notches above Toto in my opinion.

If your speaking of song writing, I get it. That’s subjective.
If you’re speaking of musicianship….it’s Toto and it’s not particularly close.

I don't know about all that. If you're talking classic Fleetwood Mac, they had Pete Green. Even with Buckingham, I think they're underrated because of the image, Stevie, the songs, etc., but for a band that far on the soft side of rock, they were stellar musicians.
Having said that, Toto was exceptional as well. Jeff was a first call L.A. session drummer as a teenager, basically and played on a comparable number of big hits as Purdie, Kunkel, Blaine, Hawkins - any of those guys and was at least as influential as any session drummer of the past 60 years.

Lindsay Buckingham is every bit as good on a guitar as Lukather. On the rest of the band, I'd agree.

I've been a fan since the 80's. They caught my attention for 3 things. Jeff Porcaro was bad arse playing drums and one of my all time favorite drummers; everybody in the band sang vocals to the point that you were not sure if it was a Toto song and Steve Lukather is an under rated musician/guitarist.
Around 81/82 I think, I got a new Ibanez S type, and one of the major reasons was Steve Lukather was endorsing them and played Ibanez amongst others at the time. I have always had the utmost respect for him as a guitarist, and TOTO as one of the tighter bands in that era. They were and are all super talented musicians.
I think some of my favorite tunes are the off the wall stuff. For instance, Dave’s gone skiing off the Tambu album shows a lot about how talented TOTO really is IMO.

Yep, Joseph Williams. The youngest band member who joined Toto in the mid 80's. I'd say he's the best vocalist of all band members, past and present.

There will always be a soft spot for Toto with me. One of the first songs I learned to play.
We played a gig a few years ago with a really good keyboard player who busted out the intro to Hold The Line in the middle of the gig and we jammed the shite out of it. Totally unprepared and it was great.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

We will simply agree to disagree here.
As a guitar player, I can play the vast majority of Fleetwood Mac guitar solos with a little effort.
I would t know where to begin playing the outro solo on Running With The Night.
Again, there is a difference between what sounds good to us individually and what music is more difficult to perform.

He's a session guitarist in LA. He's going to get a lot of work. You could say the same thing about Glen Campbell, Larry Carlton, and several others.
Like someone else said, Lindsay Buckingham is very underrated. He doesn't go for flashy solos in the studio but anyone that's seen him play live knows that he can really play.
