Article 42(7) TEU If a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, the other Member States shall have towards it an obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. This shall not prejudice the specific character of the security and defence policy of certain Member States. Commitments and cooperation in this area shall be consistent with commitments under the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, which, for those States which are members of it, remains the foundation of their collective defence and the forum forits implementation.
Talk about being on the precipice of WWIII. I don't think we've ever been closer in my lifetime

I'm not condoning the Russians, but this move by Ukraine seems like buying insurance after you suffer a catastrophic event. Why would the other nations allow them into the EU right now?

I'll take a stab at it. Because those EU nations and the USA don't want their evil shite and shenanigans revealed to the world. Simple as that.

This is perhaps the dumbest of all dumb conspiracy takes
What is stopping that from happening right now? How does war prevent this from happening?

It could be an effort to create a tool with which to negotiate...

It would be redundant to use that as an excuse for war if you admit Ukraine to the EU after they were attacked.

The US election was stolen in part because the president was talking about it openly.

If they allow Ukraine into EU and then cite this treaty as cause for necessary action then there is definitely something fricky going on.

He was also impeached for looking into it.
ETA, General Flynn's life was also ruined for digging into it.
If you have a shred of critical thinking skills you can see the writing on the wall here with how they've acted during this entire thing. "They" being the media, politicians, and other countries.

I mentioned this a few days back when talking about the problem with Russia trying to go too far beyond Ukraine unless he actually is mentally unstable. It's why his "warning" to Sweden and Finland was so bizarre.
Engaging the EU would also likely trigger other mutual defense agreements with the UK and the US. Unless China has their back, that's too much fight for them alone.

That doesn't really answer the question at all
