I don't think the US was using the same super-aggro approach that Russia is, though. Our invasion of Iraq was patient and measured. Russia is potentially over-extending itself for a quick, decisive victory.

Russia thinks overwhelming should defeat the fighting spirits of their enemies when they have clearly measured the enemies will to survive and keep their homeland
