Rossi ran very well for most of the race. Glad he got a solid top 10 but I thought he had a car that could have finished a little better

Rossi drove a solid race but he's not going to be happy dropping four places from his starting position. I don't see how he can stay with Andretti if he can sign with another top team. For now he can blame "something" about his current situation for his woes, but I suspect that the days of him being seen as a championship contender have passed him by. We'll get a better sense of that if he can sign with Ganassi or Penske. Maybe replace Johnson next year at Ganassi. I hope he can change teams, that way there are no excuses.

Newgarden's awful race sees him dropping two places in the championship. Defending champion Palou is putting together another steady, Dixon-esque season. Will Power actually has the most consistent performance so far, finishing 4th or better in every race.
The top four guys are within 10 points. Also note that every race has been won in a Chevy-powered car, but the championship leader is driving a Honda!
Championship After 4 Races
(+/- number of positions gained or lost)
P01 Alex Palou (Ganassi / Honda) 144 pts (+2)
P02 Scott McLaughlin (Penske / Chevy) 141 pts (+0)
P03 Josef Newgarden (Penske / Chevy) 135 pts (-2)
P04 Will Power (Penske / Chevy) 134 pts (+0)
P05 Pato O'Ward (McLaren / Chevy) 114 pts (+4)
P06 Scott Dixon (Ganassi / Honda) 113 pts (-1)
P07 Rinus VeeKay (Carpenter / Chevy) 106 pts (+0)
P08 Romain Grosjean (Andretti / Honda) 101 pts (-2)
P09 Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan / Honda) 84 pts (+1)
P10 Marcus Ericsson (Ganassi / Honda) 84 pts (-2)
P11 Colton Herta (Andretti / Honda) 79 pts (+0)
P12 Simon Pagenaud (Meyer Shank / Honda) 69 pts (+0)
P13 Alexander Rossi (Andretti / Honda) 62 pts
P14 Takuma Sato (Coyne / Honda) 61 pts (+1)
P15 Christian Lundgaard [R] (Rahal Letterman Lanigan / Honda) 57 pts
P16 Felix Rosenqvist (McLaren / Chevy) 56 pts
P17 Hélio Castroneves (Meyer Shank / Honda) 55 pts (-4)
P18 Jimmie Johnson (Ganassi / Honda) 51 pts (-4)
(Partial list. 29 drivers have scored points.)

I'm still not sure how he lost 4 spots on the last round of pit stops.
I was a Rossi fan when he came into IndyCar and it looked at first like he was going to be a star. However, I agree that he's not trending in a good direction right now. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good.

Missed the race yesterday...but catching up now.
Lots of hatred coming from Rahal about Grosjean...

Frankly, this can only be good for Indy Car...

From Racer.com
With the prospect for inclement weather in Indianapolis later in the day, IndyCar has decided to move up the start time of today’s GMR Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course to 3:07 p.m. ET.
Will Power on the pole.

Yeah rain would be great, but unfortunately there could be lightning, which would red flag the race and most probably go past the time limit.

Nice, looks like a wet race!
Track is wet but it looks like it isn't raining at the moment. They expect a drying track. With three stops expected, Power doesn't believe that it will affect strategy. It was declared a wet race, so they have free tire choice (aside from doing the first lap on rain tires).
This will be the first wet race with the windscreens.

Colton Herta just pulled off the greatest open-wheel drift ever seen.

Brilliant move by Herta and Sato to pit first. Herta moved up +13 places and leads the race. Sato moved up +6, now +7, to P6.

Old-guy Sato is on fire, passing Newgarden and Power, now up to P4.

Is Ericsson good to make it til the rain? He may have lucked into the lead.

The pace car has similar horsepower to the race cars.

Yea this race is awesome. Hopefully they avoid lightening and we get some rain running to finish.

Crazy race. It would be nice to see it go the distance.

Caution for a spin where the guy drives away. Ridiculous.
