How can Ford keep building all these vehicles they can sell for months or even years? No way they remain profitable in this mess

Once the semi conductor issue is fixed There will be a ton of new vehicles 2 or more years old sold by dealers for real cheap, as the new models will be out by then.

Well they stopped building some models and won’t start again until the 2023 year.

And a lot of these including the f150s are built and ready so when the chip they need comes in they aren’t starting from the start. That would delay them even more.

A certain number will get the chips then be on their way to the dealerships.

But it is hurting them. After a good run on their stock it’s dropping again.

That, my friend, is when Supadave3 will finally be ready to finally retire the 2010 Accord.

Don't be surprised if/when the chip shortage is sorted out that Ford and other manufactures artificially hold inventory low until they clear out all these brand new older model years. I expect they'll discount them but not as heavily as one would think.

Going further, I wouldn't be surprised to see inventories held low for quite some time as they've seen people are willing to shell out MSRP and then some.

They need to maximize losses to get the biggest FedGov check possible, you and I are paying for this not Ford's stockholders.

They won’t be cheap by then because there is jack shite on the lots these days.

A fricking Trabant would probably go for a premium right about now.

Not how it works, these are pretty much all pre-sold anyway. The Broncos that were sitting outside this summer have been delivered, same goes for the trucks.

2019 production numebers:
F-150 704,691
Super-Duty 369,085

10,000 trucks parked in parking lots looks insane, but when you build almost a million trucks per year, thats 3 days of production, doesn't take long to move and sell them once the parts arrive. The parked vehicles come and go in waves, the goal is to move production up and down as much as possible without just idling plants for extended periods which causes a lot more problems especially employee retention.

The idea that tens of thousands of vehicles are going to hit the market a year from now after sitting for years in a parking lot is complete nonsense. Dealers in the US had 3 million cars in stock in Dec. 2020, that numbers has been hovering at under 1 million for months now, it will take a lot of catch up to normalize those numbers.
