Try slapping someone at your job and tell us how it goes

Maybe suspend him for the remainder of the season. No need to fire him for what happened. IMO, the whole deal seems a bit overblown

I was of the same opinion initially, but not now. Howard had multiple opportunities to defuse the situation, and chose not to.

He could have called off the press, and Wisconsin wouldn't have called the timeout that made him pout.

He could have kept his mouth shut in the handshake line instead of talking shite.

He could have simply walked away after the initial confrontation with Gard instead of going back for a bitch slap on the assistant coach.

Even after all that, he still could have owned his behavior and apologized after the game. Instead, crickets a day later.

These are the actions of a guy who made the whole deal overblown by himself, and feels his reaction was totally justified. Michigan doesn't need him anymore.

He'll play dat race card faster than a riverboat gambler. If he was white, he'd be signing up for unemployment

Except that he is the head coach and didn't apologize or show any remorse. He doubled down and excused what he did.

It happened yesterday. They have to spend a couple of days to make it look like they investigated before they suspend him.

Then they will do a coaching search and if they find a good replacement they will fire him for cause.

Their next game is Wednesday at home. He will be suspended before then.

He tried to say today he was defending himself. Shortly, he will say he was called a racial slur.

I don’t think he should be fired, but we all know damn well if a white coach had taken a swing at a black man, the white coach would have been fired forthwith.

That won't work. Too many people witnessed the event. Now, he may play some race card about a white man grabbing a black man and how we don't understand what it's like to walk in his shoes.

But when IU fired him, most people, especially the MSM, applauded the decision. He was too old school, the game had passed him by, there wasn't room for his behavior in the sport anymore, etc. And that was over 20 years ago.

However in 2022, Howard's behavior is being excused by the MSM because he grew up on the Southside of Chicago, and that's how his grandma raised him, so we shouldn't be surprised. Seriously wtf?

I’m going to bring this up for the rest of time whenever Michigan fans bring up the “Michigan man” standard they claim to uphold.

agree 100%, and to be clear juwan should suffer some consequences. i'd stop short of firing him but he should pay a price.

that said, texas tech didn't seem to mind his pattern of abuse. and i'm not saying i wouldn't have hired him either. my comment was more toward the poster in my original reply that insisted any white coach would be fired on the spot, while black coaches always skate

A suspension would be warranted if this was the first time he had an incident like this.

This is at least the third time he lost his temper and got chippy with the opposing team / coach.

also fun sidebar - a guy i grew up with went to michigan on a tennis scholarship at the same time as juwan and the fab 5, lived on the same floor of the athlete's dorm as I think chris webber. while my buddy was an athlete, his was pretty short and kind of fat. the pics he had of him and c webb together playing double dribble or drinking beers were priceless
