Milazzo has 2 RBIs. More than Thompson or Dugas. He has 3 Ks but he’s putting the ball in play.

I will say it sucks to see him still stepping away from the plate and pulling way off just like he was before. Was hoping to see that gone.

Umm Milazzo was more productive than basically anyone we inserted into the latter half of the game on Sunday.

They gave him a courtesy hit on Friday on what was an error, and also netted an RBI. He looks like the same dude through a few at bats

Drost

I'm still salty that Mainieri basically ran off Hampton in favor of Drost and Sanford.

I know there was more to the story such as Hampton quitting football, no scholarship, etc., but it would be awesome to still have him as an option.

Im not saying it looks like he has turned the corner or anything but to say hes the worst hitter on our team right now is patently false and its not really debatable by anyone with working eyeballs.

you think hes the worst hitter you've ever seen then you havent been watching Drost or Holt swing the bat.

2021

Drost 84AB 226/327/440 5hr 14rbi 37 total bases

Milazzo 126AB 135/220/183 0 hr 7 rbi 23 total bases

Milazzo was literally the worst lineup regular in the last 30 years for LSU when I looked at stat archives last season. It is prob longer, I just stopped looking cause I was bored.

Ok Lester. Lets bring up last years stats to prove that right now Drost is a better batter than Milazzo. Ok buddy!

Let me just say it again. Milazzo was the worst hitting regular lineup player at LSU in the last 30 years.

The onus is on him to prove he is anything but the worst hitter on the team. And he did nothing this weekend to disprove that

Drost can roll out of bed and out hit him. And he’d strikeout 35% of the time doing it. That’s how low that bar is

I think this is being really, really kind for Milazzo. He either struck out or hit a soft grounder to the SS all weekend basically. At least he did have 1 walk.

He has to find a way to protect the outside part of the plate and not roll over everything else. Jay has to get him to stop stepping away from the plate. No way around it.

It's such an odd thing that he's still struggling stepping away this far in his career.

Yeah in year 3 that's troublesome, it's only 2 games in, but they have to be pointing this out to him over and over and over. I guess at some point he just is who he is at the plate.

I'm over it. He's just gonna step in the bucket forever. My bigger issue is that he still doesn't handle middle and middle-in very well. If he just squared up mistakes middle and middle-in then he'd be a lot better off. But, no, he doesn't really handle any pitch well.

This is mainly from my observations last season. Not enough tape yet this year, but it doesn't look any different yet.

His timing is just so so poor. I feel bad for him, it’s killing his confidence. His mind & body cannot get in sync at all.

Have you watched them swing the bats lately? Have you been to any games or preseason practices? Drost is struggling just to make contact with even mediocre pitches. He may have put up better stats than Milazzo last year (albeit Drosts ABs mostly came OOC but I digress) but right now at least Milazzo puts the ball in play occasionally. Guys like Drost looked completely out matched against average pitches.

I think we will see improvement from Drost year two vs. year one, especially under Coach Johnson.

He did run him off Hampton quit and if he would have stayed he may have been the starter by the end of the season. I am all for player freedom when the season is done but Hampton chose not to stick around during the season. That’s on him.

Milazzo was statistically the worst hitter on the team this offseason

Does anyone know the single season team batting average record and do ya'll think there's a chance at that?
