Looking for recommendations. Only place I’ve been is House of Nanking. It was good… not great.

The two I remember are the R&G Lounge and the Great Eastern. Both were very good. And Yank Sing for dim sum. And the Li Po Bar for an atmospheric place for drinks. Yuet Lee, my favorite hole in the wall with delicious food looks like it is closed.

Li Po Bar
On the last trip we did stop in here for a mai tai. Pretty neat spot for a drink.

Penang Garden on E Washington for the Spicy Chili Crab......One of the top 10 dishes I have ever had anywhere. Made with a whole Dungeness crab it was spectacular.

The Pepper crab at R&G lounge is great.

Henry's Hunan has zero atmosphere but solid food. My staples when I lived there were the Kung Pao Shrimp, the Noodles with Pork Meat Sauce and Special Sauce, the Diana's Meat Pie, and the dumplings. This guy ate his way through the whole menu and posted pics/descriptions. Ignore the prices, since it's been 20 years since he did this, but I think Henry's is now in its 3rd generation of family ownership, so the food should still be the same.
I second Yank Sing for dim sum.

Not in Chinatown, but the best dim sum is at yank sing. A block off of market Street and first.
