so the entire family combines to have same number as another QB has by himself.

I already said it, and you already quoted it:

...or we can go after Brad Johnson's son, or Jamie Howard's son, or Owen Brennan's son. But then they don't have any Super Bowl championships.

While I don't "fawn" over him, I find him mildly amusing.

You sound hangry, have a Snickers.

I think there are various reasons for the avoidance of LSU.
Archie’s issue was the he was born and raised in Mississippi and wanted to help his state favored team.
Cooper, Peyton and Eli probably differ in their reasons but I think the Newman effect was part of it for all 3.

I think Arch will give LSU some consideration. Maybe it’ll be half hearted but who knows…. Maybe he is sincere.

neither does Jimmy Burrow, but going after his son worked out alright for us.

That's right.

The point is that we don't adore them as much as we recognize they come from good football stock.

there is a difference between respecting their accomplishments (which i do and think they deserve) and treating them as if they are the royal family like a lot of Louisiana does.

Fact is they all took the first train out of town the moment they had a chance.
Just like lots of other Louisiana born athletes did.
They competed directly against our hometown teams.
Just like a lot of other Louisiana born athletes have.
They’ve won titles.
Just like a lot of other Louisiana born athletes have.

none of those other athletes are treated special, so why should Archie’s group?
Want to like Archie because he was a Saint? Cool. That’s understandable.

Liking his offspring simply because Archie was a Saint is just strange.

Trust me, that didn’t work too good either.

Personally, I just figure growing up in a family full of NFL quarterbacks can afford a kid the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the position at a really young age. Much like Burrow had growing up as the son of a football coach. Maybe some people obsess over the Mannings, but not me. I just think they have built in advantages.

Cannon's son didn't play for LSU either. Just saying.

The Mannings are a great family! It’s absurd that a few knuckleheads try to put them down. I had the utmost respect for Archie when he played at Ole Miss. As for Peyton and Eli, they are fine individuals! If they were my sons, I probably wouldn’t have encouraged them to play for some of coaches at LSU either.

Bottom line, it’s just sour grapes for some LSU fans.

I would love to see Arch play for LSU.

Watching his family awkwardly support him will be the best. Shove some LSU love down the Manning family’s throats

Back on the old tiger lair Archie would post under the name Evil Twins
He sold his soul to fat fulmer
For you young ones the tiger lair was the precursor to the rant
It was the rant before the rant

not really.

most of us just don’t pull for Alumni of other SEC (hell, any FBS) schools.
for some reason the Manning fanboys feel they should be exempt from this.

there is basically zero benefit to LSU when the Mannings succeed. But Ole Miss gets the publicity.
And nobody is moving to New Orleans because they grew up there.
If anything, a successful Manning has a negative impact on LSU.

so why should LSU fans care in any way about them?

I always thought that Archie Manning was a good guy. If I were born in Central Mississippi, I would be rooting for the University of Mississippi too. That's just your environment and surroundings. You can't blame someone for wanting to play for their home state school.

Peyton did not want to play for Curley Hallman. I would not either. Peyton made his own way and did very well.

I don't think it was that personal against LSU. Eli and Peyton wanted to play where they felt comfortable and could get excellent instruction.

So he’s like 99% of that state then

Funny how so many think if a kid from La is good at football he’s obligated to play for LSU.

In sum, the Mannings feel that they are too good and "above" LSU. Hence, the Manning family hatred.

What a crock of shite a friend of mine was born and raised in the same neighborhood as the Mannings, she’s like 7th generation and went to Ole Miss.

This is such a ridiculous argument. Something or someone gets bashed unfairly, some points out the attacks are unfair and then gets accused of being a fan boy.

How many other SEC alumni get the hate the Mannings do? Pat Swilling’s kids did not go to LSU, I don’t hear LSU fans say he hates LSU or that he didn’t do anything for the state.

It also shows how many of you are not from New Orleans. LSU is the most popular team in NOLA but it’s not 99.9%. Lots of people from NOLA are not LSU fans. A few hate LSU most of the non LSU fans just don’t care.

Lsu fans gave Archie a ton of crap when he came hear. I have no proof but I wonder if some idiot drunk Cajuns said something about his Dad not being around anymore.

But they have 4 super bowls so shut up. Every since I watched the book of Manning and heard about Archie's dad I wonder if some LSU fans crossed the line 60 years ago when they taunted Archie. Maybe I'm wrong but if it happened and he told his kids about it they would have said F#$% LSU.

LSU was a joke of a program at this time. Nobody wanted to go there in state or out. Can’t blame them. LSU basically was irrelevant pre Saban.
