I am 6 episodes in. I am enjoying it but I spend at least half of each episode dealing with vicarious embarrassment.

The accent is driving me crazy so I stopped watching.

It is tedious but is a decent copy of the actual Anna Sorokin.

Netfix paid Sorokin $320,000 to use her life story, which included how she scammed the rich and powerful under the guise of a false persona.
So she's still scamming.

These things are schadenfreude. Nothing but laughs for the scammed whores by the Tinder Swindler or the douchebags who bought tickets to the Fyre Festival.

Son of Sam law means the money goes to her creditors.

Whole story could have been told in a 60 minute episode, but they stretched it out to an entire season by pumping it full of fantasy storylines and “white man bad” propaganda.
Julia Garner great as always, but save yourself the time and read the Wikipedia article

There’s a lot of bloat throughout but the last two episodes should have just been left out altogether. They add absolutely nothing.

Sir this is Netflix. It’s what we serve here.

She's got tricks. One of her creditors will be the Human Fund.

A couple of references to Trump’s America being a total shite show.
Then about 3/4 of the way through, Anna and the journalist start going off on tangents about how it’s a man’s world and Anna is doing literally the same thing as men do every day in this country and she’s the only one being punished for it. Also one of her friends is a very large transsexual black woman and they make sure to give her/him some PG13 romance scenes - ya know, for the kids.
Funny part is, the straight boyfriends and husbands are the only people with a voice of reason. They say several times, “this bitch is full of shite and you’re getting played for a fool.”

It’s basically Ruth Langmore trying to pull off some odd Euro trash accent; especially when she’s yelling or having a breakdown.
It’s a hell of an interesting story, but the journalist and her bitch husband are annoying as F. Like a previous post mentioned, I stopped watching and hit the google. I’m afraid most interesting parts of Anna’s cons won’t get much play bc some of those she conned were too powerful and it’s just so embarrassing they fell for her BS.

A lot of that money was taken by the government.

the lead journalist (anna Chlumsky) is horrible, or her character is anyway.

Yeah...i don't get how or why the journalist became so pro-anna after learning how much of a scammer she was. I felt like the audience was supposed to sympathize with Anna the way the her lawyer and the journalist were, but she was clearly committing fraud. I will say the sentence in the show seemed heavy-handed, but it looks like she only served a very small portion of it.

Part of that was the competition for the exclusivity of the story between Manhattan magazine and Vanity Fair the author of the Vanity Fair article had to be made into a villain of sorts to make the Manhattan article more legit

I binged this shite till 2 am this morning. How she convinced some of these brilliant, rich people into floating her money is noteworthy.
Can't imagine being in the high society that some of these people are in and the embarrassment they feel from how they were hustled by some broke 25 year old bitch from Germany.
The Manhattan reporter part of the show is just a drain on time and adds nothing. Just tell the fricking story without all of the pregnancy, coworkers chit chat, and fights with bosses bullshite.

I see this sentiment a lot on here. I'm curious why actors doing accents bother so many people. She sounds pretty similar to the real Anna Sorkin imo. Do unfamiliar accents in general bother you? Or just actors doing accents in movies?

Julia Garner is much better looking than the real Anna.
Also the line about her going number 2 and not having toilet paper, then stinking up the board room…gross.
