Just saw it. First 30-45 minutes were awesome. It kind if dragged. Movie a bit too long. Overall, still good. Fwiw I normally don’t even bother with superhero movies/dc/marvel stuff

Holy shite that exceeded my expectations.
This was a damn good Batman. He was never Bruce Wayne. Always Batman.
After they caught and locked up Riddler, I was satisfied. Then the final act, I didn't see that coming.
Robert Patterson is Batman.
The Riddler was always corny as hell. From the TV show, to the movie to the comics. This was to Riddler what TDK was to Joker. Everyone was well cast. I really liked Gordon.
We see it in the cartoons and the comics but this was the first modern movie with Detective Batman. Working with and gaining trust of the police.
Good job WB!

Just got out. The movie is too long, the final act feels clunky. Joker scene was not needed. All that being said, the first two hours or so were freaking brilliant. I was completely engrossed in the story. An almost perfect batman film.

Just got out. My opinion without having read this thread:
Pattinson makes for a fine Batman, but a mediocre Bruce Wayne.
Alfred and Gordon were both very well cast and acted.
Batman & Catwoman’s romantic relationship was not set up well enough to make it believable.
The move was quite good for what it was, but it’s desire to be cloaked in realism (and it was the most realistic Batman to date), along with the runtime, left me wanting more. In the end it was a bit unexciting, uninspiring & I don’t honestly care to see a sequel.
Adding the joker at the end, well…if Phoenix makes a return to play him next? I’m in. Otherwise, I think I’ve seen this scenario played out enough for one lifetime.
I hate to sound to negative. It was a fine effort. On its own, it’s a quality film. However, I’m not sure it was all too needed at this point…

It was certainly dark. Pattinson was a middle of the pack Batman. I miss the camp.

It was the best Batman movie ever

I thought the movie was okay. I can’t complain too much. I did think the much balleyhoo’d “we finally get to see Batman do detective work” was a little overhyped.
He literally did the same thing Val Kilmer did. Decipher The Riddler’s riddles.
Edit: He never even had to really think about them too hard. For example, when he’s trying to help the DA get out of his jam, he instantly knows the first two riddles and the only reason he doesn’t know the third one is because it relates to specific knowledge only the DA has.

Should I go see this in IMAX or standard?

Highly recommend seeing The Batman in 4DX. It was great experience. Car chase is the best part.

Liked it a lot. Thought it definitely could have been trimmed for time/pacing. The action scenes were great but kinda felt out of place? The vibe of the movie is very Fincher esque and the action scenes are more in line with the Nolan movies. With that being said it was still a blast.
I didn’t like the joker cameo at the end. I just think the movie would have been better without it. All of the main players knocked it out of the park. Great performances all around.

Colin Farrell is a better De Niro in this movie than De Niro has been in decades.

Wow I guess my expectations were too high, but I came away a bit disappointed overall.
However, what a BADASS Batmobile! They need to keep that one for future movies.

Does this movie get better on 2nd viewing?
The longer I think about it the more I want to see it again. I think Shapiro gets his review wrong.
Maybe it will reach the top of the Batman movies?

Simple question:
The Batman better than Sin City?

I’m going to blame this on the direction and script over the actor, but Robert Pattinson was a god awful Bruce Wayne. Fine Batman, bad Bruce Wayne. Again I think he’s capable of this and it’s not his fault, but it’s as if the script and direction tried to make sure he was the worst most emo Bruce Wayne possible. Kevin Conroy and Christian Bale got Bruce Wayne right and that’s the direction his Wayne should have gone.
Exactly. All of this. He was a good Batman and a horrible Bruce Wayne.

Dark Knight trilogy destroyed this new Batman movie. Decent movie but doesn’t touch dark Knight

Saw it this weekend. I liked everything about it. The acting, score, and oh man the production design was just top notch. I would rank it neck and neck with TDK but the production design was my favorite of all the films. I'll need to watch it a few more time to see if the story really holds up.
The only thing that I took some issue with was that the Riddler seemed to be going after the corrupt leadership and exposing said corruption as a form of vengeance. But in the final act he just murders hundreds of innocent people and tries to kill mayoral candidate that so far hasnt been proven to be part of this corruption.
I know the guy is loon but I thought it was interesting how he compared himself to Batman acting like just another vigilante. Examining the juxtaposition of those two made the interrogation scene cool but when he went full on mass murderer it became less so. I enjoyed the finale for the the shear spectacle and I get how it provides the push for batman to cross the apex of his story arc. I just preferred the Riddler as more of diabolical and violent vigilante than what he became in the final act.
