Orange Beach/Perdido Fishing License Question

Have a place down there and thinking of getting a two-man Kayak for the grandkids and letting them fish in Old River. They are fairly young so it will just be paddling around the Ono Island docks with an adult in the boat.
Any clue if the Wildlife guys are anal about the adult having a license? The issue is there would be several adults involved (at different times) in taking them out (myself or my son or my wife or my daughter-in-law).

If only the child has a fishing pole..... the adult is not fishing and no license is needed. If there is 2 fishing poles in the boat.... that could be a problem. I have no idea how the TX game wardens would handle this if checked.

He’s not in Texas. Florida-Bama line.

I don’t know the actual letter of the law here, but if they are too young to go by themselves I’d say that yes the adults would need a license and it would be a risk to not have one.
Just fishing off a dock would be one thing.

Fishing license is cheap as opposed to a fine.
I grew up fishing the other side of the state on the Chattahoochee where Bama/Fla/Ga all come together. I always had an Alabama and Fl license. With that, you could fish both sides of the river. The only thing I couldn't do was go into the Georgia sloughs because I did not have a Georgia license, but I could fish that side of the river.

Like others have said it’s cheaper to buy a license than a potential fine. As you probably know, keep your head on a swivel with all the boaters coming from the Yatch Club especially past the no wake zone.

I would call or email the Wildlife guys and ask.

Just buy the license. The marine patrol or wildlife officer should write you a ticket because let's be real, the adult is the one doing most of the fishing or at least is actively helping the kids bait hooks, tie lures, net the fish, release the fish and etc. .
They are not expensive and if yu have a place down here you can afford an annual saltwater license. Heck, just buy a lifetime and definitely buy the kids/grandkids one as soon as they're old enough to need a license. My father bought me the lifetime fishing and hunting when I turned 18. I was grandfathered in when the Saltwater license was invented
I've lived in Orange Beach for 25+ years and know the head guy (or he was at one point) If I remember this thread later today I'll call him and ask him what he would do and report back. He'd probably give a warning first time but you better have all the proper and required safety devices . I know he'll write you up for those deficiencies, especially if you have young children on the boat.

I live in the area full time and the law is, if there’s a fishing pole in the boat then everyone in the boat over the age of 16, I believe it is, must have a license. Now being in a Kayak, I doubt you would get messed with, however on holidays there are as many as 5/6 law enforcement agencies on the water. Your bound to come across someone happy just to write a ticket.

I've been ticketed on a kayak before. I was in HS and not even fishing at the time, just paddling back to the truck. Officer came and checked me, I had 0 fish in the kayak. I put my wallet with my license in my larger tackle box and decided to leave it in the truck. Completely forgot I didn't have it, in my kayak. He ticketed me for fishing without a license and told me "if you have one take it to the courthouse and they will tear it up".
Cost me $18 if I remember right to have it thrown out, AND it still shows on the courthouse record as "game violation- dropped" or whatever.

Thanks for all the replies folks! Will just get a license and be done with it.

Fishing without license would not be enjoyable
