Spotify CEO sends letter to employees, not dropping Joe Rogan

While I strongly condemn what Joe has said and I agree with his decision to remove past episodes from our platform, I realize some will want more,” Ek said in the note. “And I want to make one point very clear – I do not believe that silencing Joe is the answer.”
The letter is the clearest indication yet of where Spotify stands on Rogan’s fate with the company. It reportedly paid $100 million to exclusively host the podcast, so dropping Rogan threatens the bottom line but is also a key part of the company’s strategy to be a one-stop shop for audio.
“We should have clear lines around content and take action when they are crossed, but canceling voices is a slippery slope. Looking at the issue more broadly, it’s critical thinking and open debate that powers real and necessary progress,” Ek wrote. He said he was “deeply sorry” for the impact the controversy was having on Spotify’s workforce.

so he apologizes profusely for the show to appease the woketards, but keeps the show because of the money it brings in to his company.
What a shite person. Do one or the other, not both.

Bold faced lie, they've removed episodes.

Why would they drop Joe Rogan?
He already dropped to his knees and told them he would comply.

What a tough decision for Joe to make. Not.
I'd love to know how many posters would be willing to lose millions over what they could say or not say on a podcast lol

Whatever the Spotify CEO chooses to do or not do is fine with me… Just, whatever he does- dont think for one second ANY of it is about principles or morality.. It is 100% about $$, and that’s it .

He's getting his contract money no matter if he kept those up or not. It was just a bitch move on his part.

Rumble (YouTube alternative) just offered Rogan 100 million to switch to their platform, completely free of censorship.

He isn't dropping Rogan. It's a pretty bold stance in the face of ridiculous accusations from the left. It's about time one of these major media companies said "no, were not canceling people." Hopefully this starts a trend.

He wasn't going to lose millions. I think he legit looked at the firestorm that even using the n bomb clinically caused, and decided it wasn't worth it. Joe isn't some 1st Amendment freedom fighter, he's just a dude who interviews people for lots of money. Conservatives made the mistake of thinking he's this libertarian when in reality he's a classical liberal.

$100m over 4 years, you think the former host of Fear Factor is a fool?

I agree in principle but frick, things are so crazy these days anyone in his position not giving in to the wokemob for whatever reason is a good thing.
