The couch coaches are going to emerge in about a week from now
Please understand baseball
It's a marathon not a sprint
Keep this in mind when you start criticizing every little thing that happens during a game especially until this team finds itself on the mound

How many post game interviews will it take to get a "that's baseball"?

Newbie here, but I have followed LSU baseball closely for many years now. I haven't been this excited about an upcoming season in a long time. Opening day, I would like to see the following:
Morgan - 1B
Crews - RF
Berry - 3B
Doughty - 2B
Dugas - LF
Jobert - DH
Bianco - CF
McManus - C
Thompson - SS
Fontenot - P

Seems like more Thurs/Fri/ Sat series than normal this year.
Also noticed no break in midweek games during finals. By eliminating that and holding the Sunday DH vs Towson and Southern it looks like there's no week with 2 midweek games this year

LSU had 4 in 2019 and 5 in 2021
I don't hate them per say it gets the weekend started early.

Great work as always. Thank you!

I would argue that Milazzo should start the season as the primary catcher. The main argument I would have is because I believe he gives the pitchers the best support. I think it might be important to boost their confidence to start the season. By time SEC gets here, I could see McManus taking over as the primary.
Berry will probably start the season at 3B, but I would be very surprised if Merrifield is not there when the games start getting important.
Outfield is the mystery to me. Eventually it will sort itself out and players will emerge. To start the season, I would probably go with the veterans, Dugas, Crews, Gio and Jobert DH.

I did some digging to see what teams had position players drafted in the top 20 overall in back to back years...this is what I found.
Troy Tulowitski 7 overall 2005 Long Beach St.
Evan Longoria 3 overall 2006 Long Beach St.
Corey Ray 5 overall 2016 Louisville
Brendan McKay 4 overall 2017 Louisville
Matt Thaiss 16 overall 2016 Virginia
Pavin Smith 7 overall 2017 Virginia
Adam Haseley 8 overall 2017 Virginia
Nick Madrigal 4 overall 2018 Oregon St.
Adley Rutschman 1 overall 2019 Oregon St.
Hunter Bishop 10 overall 2019 Arizona St.
Spencer Torkelson 1 overall 2020 Arizona St.
JJ Bleday 4 overall 2019 Vanderbilt
Austin Martin 5 overall 2020 Vanderbilt

SEC WEST
1. Arkansas 20-10
2. Ole Miss 20-10
3. LSU 17-13
4. Mississippi St. 17-13
SCHEDULES
ARK - UK, @UM, MSU, @UF, LSU, @A&M, MISS, @AUB, VAN, @ALA
LSU - A&M, @UF, AUB, @MSU, @ARK, UM, UGA, @ALA, MISS, @VAN
MSU - @UGA, ALA, @ARK, LSU, AUB, @MISS, @UM, UF, @A&M, TENN
MISS - @AUB, TENN, @UK, ALA, @USC, MSU, @ARK, UM, @LSU, A&M
Not sure if I agree with the Ark/Miss prediction, but it makes sense looking at the schedules. How did LSU end up with the WORST schedule? Neither MSU/Miss has to play both UF & Vandy and LSU plays both AWAY. At least they end the season with Ole Miss at home, but @ARK @MSU @UF and @VAN is rough.

Thanks...I know you guys have discussed all of this in this thread , but the biggest questions I have going into the season are: (other than pitching - which is a whole other discussion)
1) Can Berry handle 3B defensively?
2) Can McManus handle C defensively and/or has Milazzo progressed enough offensively to remain the starter?
3) Will one or two of the young/new guys take that next step and force there way into the lineup?
4) How big of a role will Bianco, Beloso, & DiGiacomo play?
Can't wait to see how it all plays out!!

It looks like only two of those groups are on the way to having more than one guy pan out. Long Beach with Tulo and Longoria, holy shite. And then Madrigal and Rutschman, but it's still early for both.
Bishop still has a chance I guess.
JJ Bleday may have a chance now that they aren't testing for steroids again. Dude's a fricking fraud.

I think there are going to be pitchers that McManus won't be asked to catch. How that affects starting and relieving roles is yet to be determined, but I don't know if they'll trust him with Coleman or Hilliard or Hasty.

LSU's home schedule is incredibly weak besides Ole Miss. The road schedule is brutal. One year it'll even out.
