Just got a new PC and would like to start something new on it. Favorite games of all time were FFX and borderlands 2. I have been a cod and LOL guy since then with on and off flirts. I’d really like an RPG. Turn based was always my fav, but I know that’s a dying breed these days. Not the biggest open world fan, but it’s not a hard stop (have had plenty of fun with the fallout series).

Maybe try out the Bioshock franchise. Great games.

I know it’s a broken record but if you haven’t played Dark Souls please give it a chance.

That is nothing like anything he described

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Get the Definitive Edition because the DLC has some of the best quests in the game.

Witcher 3 - not turn based, but one of the best RPG’s ever. Fantastic story, world, and interesting side quests.
FFVII Remake - they have an awesome combat system that feels modern yet remains true to the old game. If you’re a fan of turn based combat, this game gives you a taste of what a modern turn based system could be.
FFXV: Royal Edition - not turn based, but a simple yet elegant combat system that’s easy to learn, but has enough depth to not get stale. Also has a great world and characters with some real emotional range.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole - excellent turn based RPG reminiscent of FF Tactics. Also, it’s South Park, so it’s hilarious.
KOTOR 1 & 2: they’re both cheap on steam and have mods available which significantly improve the graphics as well as flesh out the second game significantly. If you haven’t played these x-box classics before, they’re some of the best RPGS of all time where your choices really matter. Plus, the turn based combat is basically D&D.

If you want turn based, I would recommend:
Steam:
Bug Fables
FF 3 - 9
GRANDIA I & II (HD Remaster)
Persona 4: Golden
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster
Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Sadly there are fewer and fewer of us each day. With that said, you will love Dragon Quest XI.
ETA: I would also second ElRoos post above mine, especially Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It is one of my favorite games in recent memory.

Can't go wrong with Homefront.

If you like turn based games, you can't go wrong with Civilization.

I love total war for its mix of turn based and real time strategy game mechanics.

I love Medieval: Total War with mods. I wanted to love Rome, but my computer at the time hated it. Shogun and Medieval were the only two that I was able to play.

Medieval is great, but my favorite will always be the original Rome: Total War. The newer one didn’t cooperate with my PC either.

Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2.
Xcom 2 for the mods.
