Travinski wasn't about to take any more walks

thanks Scub - season is just around the corner

That is a ton of walks given up.

24 BBs, 20 Ks, 4Hs, and 3Es made for a sloppy scrimmage. I would have liked to be able to hear what was said in the post game huddle.

Yikes.. 4 hits total? JK
Would MUCH rather see the pitching dominating in any of the scrimmages... Because we know we have the bats. We've seen them. Pitching is another story and will make or break our post season... like it normally does.
Really hope Jay starts bringing in the pitchers that Vandy, Florida, and Arky get. Hell even Georgia and Auburn to a degree... Guys that can pitch 95+... I'm sorry but 89 just aint gonna cut it in Omaha. With the travel ball scene these kids have been hitting 89 since they were sophomores in highschool.
Give me a lefty throwing 87 over a righty throwing 91.... (spoken like a true lefty who threw 87)

Not good with all the walks.

I'm sure Jay told them they were really, really close to getting a curfew.
It really is a 2-sided coin, though, when it comes to the walks and lack of hitting...which I touched on last night. If they had quality, competitive at bats...that's fine. From the pitching side, they just need to learn how to put em away, find that out pitch. Tough roster to put away. From a hitting side, they just need to maximize their hitting opportunities - don't be K or BB, don't miss on your pitch. I have no concerns, honestly. It's a process, and results are skewed when you're playing against guys you know well.
Good news is that almost everyone really does seem to be healthy. Only name in question that I haven't seen is Simon. But now we have Thompson and Edwards hobbled.

The recruiting thread I would normally post this in is anchored but I felt like it’s newsworthy enough for people to see it.
Former St Aug pitcher Kenya Huggins signed with LaTech out of HS but went to Chipola instead. He pitched 2 innings in their opener yesterday and struck out 6. Was touching 95, sitting around 93. Jason Kelly started following him on Twitter today which is typically an indication that we are evaluating if not outright recruiting him.

He’s a stud, I didn’t realize he opted for Chipola

I was posting specifically for your awareness, just didn’t want to start a new thread, ha.
ETA: he’s going to have a great chance to get drafted this year though because with cam Collier on his team there will be scouts at every one of his games.

He would be in next years class?
Posted on 1/29/22 at 7:29 pm to UpToPar
He’s a freshman, so could be in this upcoming class or the following one.

Today's walks came in bunches, multiple walks in the same inning. Most were wildness rather than competetive at bats. I think that the coaches were trying to see who could pitch themselves out of self created jams. Most failed today.

He's a moose. Not as full just yet, but a Kumar Rocker build. Super athletic, too. I thought he was a D1 guy on the mound, behind the plate, or anywhere else out of high school. Just raw.
ETA: Jaden Hill build for an LSU comp.

Thanks for all that you do.

I don’t see that as pitching dominating. When they are that wild it’s hard to get hits.
