Kelly is going to fricking crush it here. The rest of the conference damn well ought to be nervous.

Those four guys and Ward as your five starters will make for a goodly number of turnovers. They're going to know a whole lot about how to fool QB's, how to break on the ball, how to strip a ballcarrier and so on.

Should be a very technically proficient secondary, and that matters.

Also, you have two VERY physical corners who can play press man behind what should be a strong pass rush. The pass defense could be extremely salty.

But the question is 2023. Because it's extremely likely you could lose all five guys to the league.

So how good is the secondary when it's Jones-Welch-Ryan-Matthews-Burns in 2023? Can those guys hold up their end?

I think it's fair to say that Derrick Davis has a chance to live up to hid 5-star potential as well. This guy was the #2 safety behind Ryan in the ranking out of HS iirc

Max Johnson doesn't stand a chance against these guys.

Lots of playing experience. Now the coaching staff has to put them together in a system they all understand, practice as a group, trust each other and play as a team. This is what O could not do the last two years, he let his superstars sit out practice way too much and they never came together as a team. Aranda could do it but O could not. I think having Kelly here makes all this happen properly.

There are two corners in the portal right now from Louisiana that sure would add depth:

- Eric Reed
- Devin Bush

Worth mentioning this other defensive lineman from Louisiana in the portal from USC-W as well:

- Ishmael Sopsher

The thing that stands out about these guys is that they are all physical, well built players. They might not have the highest ceiling but they have experience and size. The Secondary depth chart went from a depressing wasteland to an interesting mix of players.

They don't have to be world beaters. I'm just hoping to see some smart, disciplined play. And most importantly I want to see some heart and passion.
