6th behind Penn State, if the BCS we're released today

quote:

1, Oklahoma .936
2. Alabama .929
3. Missouri .912
4. Texas .843
5. Penn State .761
6. LSU .752
7. USC .619
8. Vanderbilt .616
9. Utah .615
10. Georgia .602
11. Texas Tech .563
12. BYU .503

SEC notes from the article
quote:

• Alabama is still the nation's No. 1 team in cyberspace, being ranked first by four computers and second by the other.

• Vanderbilt is No. 1 -- yes, you actually read those words -- in the Massey Ratings. But even after you throw out that number, the Commodores are still tied with Missouri for the second-best computer average.

• LSU is held back in the mock standings by being the 11th-best team in the computers. Only the Billingsley Report has the Tigers higher than 10th right now.

• Florida is also taking it on the chin in the electronic rankings. The Gators are higher than 25th in only one of the computers (16th by Billingsley).

There's no way we will catch Alabama. They are on fire this season, and their three road wins have been blowouts, and they play us this year in...Baton Rouge!

We've played 1 and even 2 games less than some of those teams...so that hurts us

As predicted, the computers are going to be hard to overcome for us. I think the human polls will be our strength this year especially with us riding a wave with a win over a faultering Auburn team. This is why scheduling all these cupcakes is going to get us in the end.

Hopefully Florida/Auburn/Alabama/UGA don't lose anymore (except to us).

I dunno how this is going to shake out but I am kinda worried that lousy out of conference scheduling might hurt LSU if things broke wrong

That fear is not as pressing as it used to be though - with the prior opinion poll #1 and their conference kinda tanking... now it does seem likely to me that the sec and big 12 champ have a good leg up on the competition

Our computer scores are killing us.

22, 3, 15, 21, & 10

But only having played 4 games, when most have played 5-6 already, coupleded with the fact our biggest win @AU is now a two loss team we are lagging behind the others.

We are currently #2 in human poll averages (.9152) while mizzu is (.9100)

Only 5 of the 6 computer polls are publised yet, and without dropping our highest and lowest numbers, we have a computer average of (.472)

Even the publishers of the computer polls will tell you there are huge diviations this early in the season. They require a full season of games to complete they matrix of who is better then who....

Sounds right. LSU's strength of schedule---to date---is horrible (esp. because of N Texas).

That'll change soon enough.
