Job war

I swore to myself a while back that I'd never start another thread. But tonight I received an unsolicited email about an amazing job. 2 days before I start the job I actually accepted. Not sure what to do here.

Go ahead and start the new job as planned.
Then feel out the 2nd job. If it's better and/or better pay, go ahead and leave that job, if they can't match the offer or whatever is better, for this newer job. Don't feel guilty.

Tell them you have a better offer. Best to be up front. Unless you know nothing about the other job offerings.

What exactly is being offered with the unsolicited email? Have you even interviewed or been offered for that “email job?”
From the information given, you start working at the job you recently accepted and then see what you can do with that email. If email job offers a better life, put 2 weeks in and move on.

Treat yourself like a business. Do what is the best for you and your family. The company would do the same.

That's just it. if it works out with the great job, I'd feel like such an a-hole to tell them to grft

Not sure yet. I made it clear what I am walking into. I guess we'll see what they say.

It's awkward but don't feel bad. I used to work in HR and I've seen it a lot. When job seekers are actively interviewing and juggling multiple job offers, it happens more than you'd think. You have to look out for yourself, nobody else is going to...good luck!

I wish we still lived in a time where employee/employer loyalty was a thing. But we don’t. Do what’s best for YOU and don’t apologize.

Exactly this, people still assume for some reason that the companies will have their interests at heart when the vast majority solely care about their profit margins.
Long gone are the days of being compensated for loyalty and retiring with a gold watch after 30 years with the same company.

You need to swear, by the moon and the stars in the skies.

You quit and start the amazing job.

It also depends on what " amazing" is for you. Is it through a recruiter? What way would the salary be structured and is it contract work in reality? There are a glut of DOD jobs out there for instance, but there are budgetary limits on the programs. For instance are you working for a sub to the prime? What type of benefit structure? If it is a sub do they have 401K options?

This doesn’t sound like a written job offer.
See how this progresses through the interview process and if it actually materializes into an offer.
Then, you have a decision to make.
