Alabama Sheriffs Association (ASA) director Robert 'Bobby' Timmons is standing by his criticism of the Constitutional carry bills set to be debated in the Alabama legislature, even going so far as to say he would support amending the United States Constitution.
Timmons has claimed several times that the Second Amendment was not written to give citizens the right to carry a weapon in a concealed fashion, saying that the amendment was only written to allow citizens to have weapons to defend their homes.
Given his interpretation of the Second Amendment, 1819 News asked Timmons if ASA would support amending the Constitution to limit the Second Amendment to the possession of firearms only for the defense of a person's home.
"Oh yeah," Timmons said. "I'd be in favor of that. But, I mean, it would never get passed."

Not only is Bobby a fascist, he is an ignorant moron.
Be interesting to see how the actual sheriffs in Bama respond to this. They should demand he be fired , and pull out of the organization if he’s not.

If the government is going to violate the Constitutional rights of Americans, there's about a 95% chance that it is going to be someone in law enforcement doing it. The days of blanket statements of backing the blue are long gone for me.

Association = grifter in 2022. When are people going to wake up to this fact and start ignoring all of these "put money in my pocket for doing basically nothing" associations, foundations, charities, etc...? They are all basically businesses (livelihoods) with tax exemptions.

He should read the Federalist papers. He is wrong. It’s about the people having the ability to overthrow tyranny if necessary. Also to have a private citizen army/militia to defend the nation against invasion.
At least he supports doing it the right way by amending the constitution and not circumventing it.

Thank God I live in Texas, where your "home" has been interpreted by the courts to include your yard, your driveway, your car, someone else's car you're riding in and anyplace in public or private where concealed carry and personal protection are not specifically prohibited.

Most law enforcement officials will not support constitutional carry. They are not, and never have been on our side.

It's not like Alabama Sheriff's Association Director is a state held office voted on by the citizens of Alabama. Now the actual sheriffs that are in the association are a different story. I'm sure if enough public pressure was actually put on the sheriffs they could be forced to change directors, but I have a feeling that won't happen. Not enough people care about (or even think about) the Alabama Sheriff's Association outside of when they are blowing up your phone for donations.
