Tesla Owners ICE’d By RAM 1500 That ‘Identifies As A Prius’ Sipping Elec. At Supercharger

A Ram 1500 pickup truck was photographed at a Tesla charging station with a good part of the charging cable’s plug placed inside its tailpipe. For the uninitiated, that’s something EV owners call “ICE-ing”, which is the practice of someone with an internal combustion engine (ICE) blocking -in various ways- a charging station.
The image, which was shared on Twitter by TheTeslaLife accompanied by a short caption that tagged the Oregon Electric Vehicle Association, sparked an online debate, with some condemning the act and others seeing it as nothing more than a joke.
The truck had Oregon license plates and a tailgate sticker saying ‘I identify as a Prius’ and, in all likelihood, its driver thought it would be funny to pose the rig next to the charging station. Nevertheless, the plug did end up going up the exhaust pipe, and was likely covered in soot.
It certainly is not that uncommon seeing ICE-powered vehicles blocking EV charging stations, a practice that could easily lead to a conflict with electric car drivers.
These situations could be avoided with something called ‘common sense’ and a little bit of respect. Since you can’t rely on them, though, perhaps, as user Toby Li pointed out, Tesla should adopt a solution like China’s, where zero-emission car charging spots are isolated by remote locks that can only be lowered by Tesla drivers.

I'm honestly surprised to not see a 'Trump Won' flag on the bed of that truck.

The electric vehicle driver should stick a gas nozzle in his outlet.
That’ll show em!

Don't like electric cars? Fine.
Think they are whimpy cars? Ok.
I can understand all of that. I just don't understand blocking charging stations and being a douche about it. Who the hell cares?

How long does that charging take?

I’ve seen a dodge 3500 in Dallas that has that on the back window but it takes up the entire thing. Baw was rolling coal on 635 when I saw him.
Got a pretty good laugh.

Why would anyone block a charging station? How are EVs in conflict with ICEs? Makes no sense.

I don't care about EV's one way or another, but that's a dickhead move.

Probably not the only thing that guy stuffs in his tailpipe.

It's not like Teslas are lined up waiting for a charging station, there is a supercharger station close to my house, I pass it almost every day, have never seen a car charging.

That was funnier in his head. What a jackass.

The reality is he likely wasn't blocking the charger any longer than just taking the picture. He was just attention whoring and probably complains about people attention whoring on SM on a daily basis.

I’m sure that baw is worried about some limp-wristed sjw confronting him

As a Tesla owner I’ll say: based on the photo I don’t think he’s blocking any actual charging spots (the charger pictured would be for the spot behind him, then there would be several more to the right). The charger he used could easily be pulled out for actual use (although I guess the point about soot or grime on it is relevant). My guess is the truck owner took this picture himself and moved on, so I don’t really give a shite. There are of course people who “ICE” chargers for real. That’s of course douchebag behavior. It would be like me blocking the one diesel pump with my Tesla while I dropped a deuce inside the gas station. In general people using superchargers are on longer trips. Why does anyone feel the need to frick with someone’s day over the type of car they drive?
