Ya that’s just plain stupid.
I honestly wouldn’t know. I haven’t watched ESPN other than actual football games in 10 years.

Maybe the best college teams that you see in the CWS, but the vast majority aren't even that good.

Calling the commish’s trophy a piece of metal told me all I needed to know about him.

Selig may as well be Kenesaw Mountain Landis compared to this dipstick.

While true, the skill level is closer than it is for the NBA or NFL.

The WCWS was mostly on the main ESPN channel while most of the CWS was on secondary ESPN channels. That’s the reason why.

I won’t pretend that college baseball is a better baseball product than MLB but I do find it to be a more exciting game. It’s almost a different sport.

I love the people marching into the thread to brag about not knowing that there was a lockout going on.

Congratulations, I guess.

Hmm idk about that, college guys can go right into the NBA and NFL and immediately have success and play well with seasoned players.

Baseball players rarely go to the show right away because the game is so much tougher at the highest level. The amount of skill that big league pitchers and hitters have is truly insane.

Not sure if that’s what you were meaning by your post or not but that’s what I got out of it.

ETA I’m only talking about top level guys that will play professionally obviously.

Not sure if that's completely true - but if it is certainly there are SOME CWS games on ESPN - how do the one's that are compare to the WCWS?

And if it is true it's because the CWS just doesn't get the ratings when they are on ESPN. You think they wouldn't put it on if it did?

It’s part of the NBA deal. ESPN must carry WNBA games

It is true.

quote:

Thirteen of the 17 women’s games aired on ESPN, while over half of the College World Series games appeared on a secondary ESPN network.

The CWS also went heads up with the NBA finals and Stanley Cup finals.

Now, the WCWS routinely does draw very well compared to the CWS and outdraws in many years. Idk why. I suspect the WCWS is a little easier to digest(fast pace) and usually has more big, national fan bases. It’s almost always SEC, big 12, or pac 12 teams. You see a little more parity in baseball and I doubt teams like Coastal Carolina or Stony Brook bring big numbers.

The WCWS is a much more entertaining game than the CWS.

I couldn’t give two shits about it, but it’s more entertaining. Faster paced for sure

I’m biased as a huge baseball fan, but I think this is kind of a catch-22 in the popularity of college baseball.

-There’s no interest because there’s limited or no access in major media
-There’s no access on major networks because there’s no interest

If it wasn’t for Tigerdroppings, it would be next to impossible to follow LSU baseball year round. Perfect Game and D1 are woefully insufficient trash, and coverage is nonexistent on espn

because its literally part of the NBA package that ESPN buys. they have to air WNBA games if they also want to air NBA games
