Well it is actually 3 tournament games, and hey you do remember one year they didn't have a tournament right? And we had one of our better teams that year. If they leave Will alone and let him keep coaching and recruiting there is little doubt that he will eclipse all of Dale's records and then some. That said I do appreciate what Dale accomplished. I was there for all of it and realize how hard it was to develop a basketball program in Louisiana. The man had his faults but he still did a lot.

Good points Tom. It's o.k. to like both...I'm not nor was i ever personally really a Dale guy, but I appreciate the memories many of his teams provided me - many great ones.

I would say both coaches took over a program at about as low a point as could be. A look at the first five years for each is a good point of comparison to start with.

I don’t even like Brando, but this is untrue. He is Brown’s buddy & has been vocal in the court naming shite & defending Dale when Jordy attacked Dale publicly.

Wade not so much

I would agree that this is untrue - I don't think Brando could be seen as a threat to anyone. Honestly, I don't sense that very many folks at all respect his opinions enough for those opinions to amount as a threat to anyone.

And that may seem harsh but can anyone really say his opinions are valued by enough people to be a threat to anyone?

Brando was arguing Cincinatti was a great team capable of beating Alabama

Back to his fly in the ointment schtick from his days hosting the CBS studio show.

He was pretty effusive when it came to Buddy D....a lot of people were. I remember him saying " we have size 23 shoes to fill."

Brando is well respected nationally. And across multiple sports. He’s seen as a true professional.

In terms of a threat, in the sense of this thread, he’s been nothing like Forde or Thamel or Dick with the way they’ve came after Wade

Not sure that's accurate or true anymore Lester, maybe he once was but his star has fallen fairly steadily, and I don't really think that's a coincidence or bad luck.

I think what precipitated the steady fall was when he had his own radio show and you got him for 2-3 hours a day. I think being exposed for that length of time revealed some things some of his former employers also found out over time.

I have an extended family member who was in the business and probably one of the nicest and genuine folks I know - and he backs up that narrative.

I'm sure he's a good Dad and family man uses his forum for some good. And I'm as flawed as the next guy - just getting back to my original point - I don't think he's a threat and it's not because he's been as hypocritical as Forde or Dick, it's just he ain't got the juice and the reasons are many and varied but the main one and one we obviously disagree on - he really is just not respected - whether it be on the national stage and especially locally where he still gets at least a little exposure to pontificate and it is reinforced.

I mean remember the comment that folks down South don't like basketball because you can see the black faces, but in football they are hidden so it's tolerated? Remember that, there are more like it from him.

I’m sure that he still does. He just doesn’t want to be accused of being a “homer” though, so if something negative about LSU makes the news, then he feels that he has to jump right on it and knock LSU for it or else he’ll get accused of being another homer like Herbstreit, McElroy, Rece, etc.

Regardless, LSU fans largely turned on him in 1990 when Florida State tackled an LSU player very late out of bounds, and a brawl ensued. Brando, as then-host of College Gameday, allowed Lee Corso (himself an FSU grad) to deflect from FSU’s personal foul and assign complete blame to LSU for the fight (“Archer has lost total control of this football team!”). The national media’s trashing of LSU that followed Corso’s tirade helped push Archer out the door.

The funny thing about all this to me is that all those guys mentioned are now watching the new NLI deals where kids are being offered millions after making such a big damned deal about a "strong arse offer."

Brando is pissed at LSU because he did not get job as announcer for LSU football. Dale Brown aligns with anyone against LSU.

On the surface, until you watch how he operates.

I agree, all these guys come at LSU and Wade straight forward. Brando does it behind the scenes in a sneaky way.

Tim Brandon made his name off of LSU but make no mistake he loves everything to do with that trash that is DivkieV and Dale Brown. Dale and Dickie do not like Wade.

Dale cheated. Cal cheater, Petino cheater. Jimmie V big arse cheater. Everyone he blasts and sucks off are CAUGHT CHEATERS YET that POS blasts Wade? I’m not pretending to think Wade is clean but that fricker Brando lost all of my respect when he supported DickieVand Dale against Wade.
