If it wasn't for the split, this would be the bracket. How do y'all think things would've unfolded?
Brother Martin wouldn't have made it in due to the forfeits. How would that have gone over?

Zachary v. Catholic for it all

Looking at the bracket and seeing the teams I saw this year, Catholic wins by 17 or so over Zachary in the Dome.

Catholic would’ve played Jesuit in the Semis instead of the Final.

How far do you see Ponchatoula making it? Semis? Or do we get upended in the 2nd round by a revenge-minded St. Paul's who held our offense to 3 points and lost by 1 at Catholic in the semis?

Hasn’t broken yet but coaches are saying 5a will be going back together so you may get your wish

Beating St. Paul’s, but losing at Jesuit in the quarters. Curtis beats Chalmette, so Jesuit would’ve been home against Ponchatoula. I think the final 4 would’ve been Jesuit at Catholic and West Monroe at Zachary.

Catholic wouldn’t have beaten Ponchatoula

I wonder how many votes for that are coming from 1, 2, and 3-5A
It sounds good to say that, but the votes need to come in and schools we think would vote for it may not. That proposal needs to be sold to every principal with what it means for them
Who’s voting on it? The current 5A with Higgins and Riverdale or the incoming 5A with Karr and Carencro?

I think Ponch beats Jesuit or St Paul’s (as they did earlier in the season) but only loses to the elite teams like Catholic or Zachary

Nope ain’t losing to Catholic either.
Zachary was the only team beating us
Zachary was the only team beating us

They got what they deserved.

A 12 hour thread and no Richard Headley talking shite about Destrahan handling the field by 2 scores, I’m disappointed.

5a got smart and put the vote up in just the 5a agenda and not up to everyone. So just 5a schools got to vote. And when you vote class specific you only need a majority not 2/3 like when a vote is brought up to all classes. It my understanding that it passed pretty easily within 5a, i am not sure which schools voted for as where i am we are 4a. It's our understanding that 4a will try this as well in 2 years as thats when the next class meeting will be. Its been the small schools that has kept this split in place which is why 5a decided to make present in just the 5a portion. i believe you will see 5a and 4a combined again and the smaller classes split

He's moved on to arguing that Destrehan should have been in the BCS playoff instead of Cincinnati.

LHSAA division tournament…. everybody gets a purple ribbon.

I just know that voting by individual classes came up like in the first or second year of the split, and no class voted to undo it.
There are still too many country yokels, even in 5A, who like going rounds deeper into the playoffs than they should. My Owls definitely benefitted from it by getting Haughton without their QB, when coming together would have gave us John Curtis at home
1, 2, and 3-5A except for Byrd is probably no votes. Livingston and Ascension district is likewise. Not everyone will show up and vote, but that could be 28 no votes and 1 yes
All the current select schools are yes votes. That’s like 11 more yes votes.
That leaves swing votes as the BR district, Northshore, River Parishes, and JP. I’m not sure enough of those will vote yes.

our understanding is Its done it passed during the 5a district meetings before the new year. Our ad informed us of this over the Holidays that it passed with very little push-back from any district and that principles in 4a are already planning to do the same in the next cycle meeting in 2 years.

Just for football or all sports? I’m all for bringing it together. Never should have been split imo.
