Play smart aggressive paint oriented ball. I’ve noticed that we are best coming off made buckets because we can set up our defensive pressure. But, when we resort to being a 3 pt shooting team, we tend to get behind and shoot ourselves in the foot from a discipline perspective.
What I never understood about DD is that with that type of body, why he chooses to not model his game behind Draymond Green. He is trying to prove he’s a stretch 4, but he is not being a facilitator from the position. 3/12 from 3 and 4/14 overall is not a good look when you only get 2 boards and 0 assists. I think he’s intelligent enough to be a facilitator and can be a serious threat in the paint because of his size at 245 lbs. If he can average 5-7 assists to go with his 7.5 boards a game, he could help the team when they play tough opponents.
WW should have some real chats with his guys to improve discipline. Maybe he needed them to experience a setback forts though. I still think we got a shot. Our defense off made buckets is like Nolan Richardson’s 40 mins of Hell.

I like when Eric Gaines, who is shooting 13% from 3 on the year, doesn't shoot 3s.

I've always thought Days could be an Admiral Schoffield type of player. However, Wade's offensively philosophy doesn't lend itself to Days being that guy.
If you remember the first "Javonte Smart" game vs. Tennessee, you remember that LSU absolutely could not stop Schoffield coming off of curls for mid-range jumpers. Days has a good mid-range jumper. The problem is Wade absolutely does not want mid-range jump shots being a part of his offense. They actually chart that stat and want as few as possible in a game. He's married to the analytics that say the only three shots you should take in a game are: 3 pointers; shots/dunks at the rim; and free throws.
Days isn't explosive enough to consistently take guys with great length to the rim. So that leaves him taking most of his shots from 3...because the mid-range jumper is not an option. As far as him being a facilitator, that had never been his game and it isn't going to all of a sudden start in the last half of his senior season.

Absolutely right. Not everybody can be the Golden State Warriors.
We need more midrange.
We need more midrange.

We mounted both of our comebacks last night because we attacked paint relentlessly. Gaines who played awful did a good job at attacking the paint then just abandoned it all together. Same thing with Pinson, I think Pinson scored like 10 straight points for us then it went away. Eason had a few good drives, and we had a few good dump offs to Reid who then blew the play.
Good news is there is no other team that blocks shots like auburn but that is the blueprint for this offense. It won't be pretty or flashy but it should work well enough with this defense.

I would think this would be predicated by the skill set of your personnel. If the average fan can see it for sure Wade does, I hope this is not his strategic guiding philosophy.

The next week should be all focus on shooting mechanics for eason/Gaines/Murray and Fudge.
Pinson and Days are who they are and mwani actually makes his shots.

If he really believes that then he is recruiting the wrong players because we do not have any above average three point shooters except for Days and Wilkinson who have shot more than ten.

When we score more than 70

On offensive philosophy, WW seems to be more of a free flowing offense with a lot of one on one iso, transition scoring or to your point 3’s. All I’m saying is that they need to focus the half court offense on getting to the paint with shorter dishes for more paint scoring. Can’t force range. Some guys just don’t have it. When they score/create momentum swings, it’s after made baskets because of their defense.
Regarding DD, he has plenty time for 1-2 dribble pull-ups. And if he can hit the 8-12 footer and get the defense to collapse, he can dish for assists. It would improve his stock dramatically. His stats are worse this year do you his shot selection.

More than anything, Wade's offense is all about creating space to either drive or get the ball moving around, forcing the defense to chase. That's why, in all honestly, Reid is a bit of curious part. He's a true throwback center who does his best work on the block with his back to the basket. In past years LSU had Naz, who was comfortable and wanted to play outside. KBW, who knew he wasn't part of the offense and was there to set screens and dunk. And Watford who was comfortable playing outside and driving. Efton is a good player...but he takes up space.
But really, more than anything, what LSU is missing are guards who can consistently create (both for themselves and others). For two seasons LSU had probably their best PG since Chris Jackson in Waters. After that, you had Smart. He was far from the best PG in creating shots for others, but he could get his shots any time he wanted.
Now you have Pinson, who has his moments, but isn't consistent like Smart. Then you have Gaines who has quickness and some vision, but he's a very below average shooter and struggles with just making the simple play as opposed to trying for the highlight play.
For 4 seasons Wade had a primary ball handler he could fully trust to make something happen if the offense became stagnant. That is missing this year and it is a struggle

I don't disagree. But Wade doesn't want those shots in his offense. I'm not saying that is right or wrong. It's just his philosophy...so don't expect them to suddenly appear. They track mid-range shots and want as few as possible. Wade has said as much.

But the problem is Mwani doesn’t usually take his shot. Looks at the basket and then looks to dish off to a teammate. When he does shoot it’s usually good. Only player with a good corner 3.
