Marty Rudnick - "Bowling Green" (2005)
Rudnick was 51 when he cut this remake of the Every Bros classic.
Info on the late Mr Rudnick is rather scant, but apparently he was a NorCal recording engineer/remasterer who dabbled as a musician in his spare time. His 2005 album More Songs About Cars & Girls is considered a PP classic by some.
There's actually a podcast episode that pays tribute to MR, but I haven't listened to it yet.

That's another great song Kafka.
It reminds me of songs from the last Monkees album before Peter Tork died.

I’m a fan of Matthew Sweet. Great ear candy.

The Gin Blossoms’ catalogue has a couple of contenders.

Glass Tiger - Someday
Heard this song over the weekend for probably the first time since the late 80's.
The backup singers are kind of nice.......

Woofing Cookies - "In The City" (1986)
Yonkers NY band; this single was produced by REM's Peter Buck.
Guitarist Len Vlahos would later write the novel Scar Boys, about a R&R band.

I vote Raspberries Go All the Way

I did not know that was Eric Carmen until last year.
Posted on 12/15/23 at 9:29 am to AlxTgr
Carmen wrote "Hey Deanie" a song that Shaun Cassidy took to the top of the charts.
Too bad the Raspberries weren't still around to cut it for extra power pop bite Carmen just misses.
