This is the variant that is going to provide herd immunity to the world. We can't vaccinate everyone else on the planet and we can't vaccinate animal reservoirs. The only thing that can provide herd immunity to an endemic virus is the virus itself.

Lets not slow it down. Let this shite rip.

Oh there won’t be any slowing it down.

It’s spreading far too quickly for any of the vaccines to be adjusted.

Ok. What happened to the common cold? And what are the differences?

Well, the symptoms are literally identical unless you’re 400 pounds and already dying from multiple co-morbities at once, in which case you actually get sick, so we have to shut the world down for that .01% of the population because Covidiots are obsessed with Pfizer getting record profits again this year for some reason

I’m always shocked at the number of infectious disease experts on this board.

I feel fine and am yet to get diagnosed with ever having Covid. I never missed any work and I am not vaccinated.

I am a fricking miracle. Science may want my body when I do die to figure out how I ever survived.

I'm suffering from fatigue, body soreness, light headed, congestion. I've done nothing but really sleep past 2 days.

It is either a cold, the flu, or omicron

My wife and I both have Covid, unsure if it's Omicron because we only did at-home test.

For me it's definitely been worse than the common cold. Although not quite as bad as the Flu.
In any case being sick sucks.

I read that 90% of people that get it will be asymptomatic.

90%...

Super deadly.

The wife and I got it. Slight headache, cough, etc. Not too bad. Better than your average hangover.

See no need to with a minor cold

Its damn near impossible to get 100% sterilizing immunity to a coronavirus. If you look at the other endemic human coronaviruses, they all cause reinfection. One in particular is the coronavirus strain "HCoV-229E". They have looked at blood samples from the last 50 years and have found proof of numerous reinfection from this strain. This along with the other endemic strains most likely caused an epidemic years ago and our immune systems have evolved to fight it without high serum antibody levels. HCoV-229E most likely caused severe disease when it first emerged like covid...and became milder as the virus mutated and human immune systems developed a baseline immune response to it. We will all catch HCoV-229E numerous times throughout our lives.

Covid is following the same evolutionary path as the other coronaviruses and in my opinion omicron is proof of that.

Unless you’re in the Dakotas, there’s around 80% chance it’s Omicron.
