Transfer Portal

Not sure how many caught the segment yesterday morning on OTB. They were talking to a guy(can’t remember his name) about the reality of the portal. He said an estimated 18,000 players are in the portal. The harsh reality is that many won’t ever receive a scholarship offer again. Players like LSU’s Eric Taylor and Mannie Neatherly have been sitting in the portal since August. I just thought that side of it was pretty interesting! Merry Christmas all!

We need to find out what the Entergy account number to the meter of the portal is and call in a disconnect.
Or just go unplug the thing.

Players need to make sure they aren’t wearing a red shirt before entering the portal. It’s always the ones wearing red that don’t make it back.

It appears the transfer portal is a risk for the majority of those who enter it. The question I have is, when players enter their names in the portal, do they automatically lose their scholarship at the school they are currently attending? I know the current semester they are in is probably already covered and paid for but once it ends, does all financial obligation going from the school to the player also ends?

Scholarships are renewed annually so it is actually up to the school if they want to take the player back. LSU could have told Myles Brennan no once he entered the portal and wanted to come back.

I had read an article on Manny Netherly and it turned into a sad situation. Working to support his son but never offered to play again. I wonder why the Southeastern's of the world don't offer a Netherly type? I assume it may have something to do with the 85 limit?

18,000 or 1800? Are they all football or all sports? I didn’t see the segment so I’m wondering what are the specifics?

you can check in, but can't ever check out

There's only about 12,000 Players in Division 1 FBS, so even if the 18,000 number included FCS and divisions 2 and 3, there's no way 18,000 is correct. It must be 1,800.

15,000+ posts, and that's your thread title. Pathetic.

9. DO choose a subject line that accurately describes the content of your post. Do not use deceptive subjects to attract attention to your post. Do not use one or two-word subjects that provide no description. And do not post in ALL CAPS.
If you can't produce more than a two-word subject, then don't start a thread on a given matter, idiot.
