21 Jump Street (2012) Still Holds Up

it's been a while since I've seen it. Threw it on last night only planning to watch 30 minutes or so before dozing off and laughed through the whole thing. There is some seriously lol moments. I forgot how many actors/actress had small roles in the movie that are more well known from other projects: Jake Johnson (New Girl), Ellie Kemper (The Office), Nick Offerman (Parks and Rec), Chris Parnell (SNL), etc. Rob Riggle by far has the funniest lines in the movie.

It was a surprisingly excellent comedy, and is very rewatchable. The sequel is solid too, I really wish we could have gotten the rumored MIB crossover.
I've become a big fan of Lord and Miller, and will probably enjoy whatever project they are involved in. Would have been cool to see their version of Solo.

22 Jump Street….the whole Schmidt is fricking the captains daughter scene is hilarious.

Feels like 21 jump street was the start of a new comedy era that got its knees cut down before it could really begin
22 jump street was probably the best comedy sequel of all time (not a high bar I know but still, it’s just as funny as 21 jump street, which is an impossible thing to pull off)
Really wish Sony didn’t frick up all the planned sequels, although I’m sure Jonahs dramatic success had a lot to do with it as well.

That might be the best B plot in comedic film history.

I died laughing when I saw him laugh like this.

The scene in the park with the bikers is hilarious.

Same. They haven’t made something I didn’t like.
But both 21 and 22 jump street hold up well although 21 is far superior

I think it’s a lot closer than you think. 22 is just as funny

Hill and Tatum are a top comedy duo imo

at the risk of sounding old and too much like Bill Simmons, there wasn't a back fill of talent to replace the Apatow era of people.
the 2010s were a terrible decade for comedy movies. rottentomotoes 50 best comedies of the decade

Jojo didn’t make the list? Yeah, I’m sure it’s because some Woke idiot intentionally misinterpreted the film.

in a weird way, it might have been homophobic NOT to punch you just because you're gay"”
When Schmidt shows janko his parents house and he goes “ can you take these pictures down, it looks like I died in a car crash and you haven’t moved on”
I laugh so hard every time

Part of the reason for that is studios stopped taking risks on big budget comedies without a completely established comedy actor from the early 2000s.
There was talent out there to take that baton that never got a chance to even run the race.

Anytime I watch that movie the scene that stands out is where they walk through the parking lot and Tatum is so confused about who and what is cool because that would be me. The funniest scene though is when Ron Swanson has him read the Miranda rights.

The CHiPs reboot was pretty damned funny as well
