I liked Reynolds. Fun player. But I gotta ask: are you related or something? Did you somehow know it was his birthday or just randomly come across this?

My first cousin came to visit me in BR he was ten years old I took him on campus to the field house Jerry Reynolds was hooping. My young cousin eyes popped out of his head. Jerry had a conversation with him for about twenty minutes my young cousin is thirty eight and he still thanks me for taking him on campus .

Came across it the other day when thinking about great players that fit a certain criteria ie would have thrived in today’s system, NBA included.
He was so quick, lean, and just a nasty defender.

That’s cool, he was a very talented and versatile player. He may not have been the best player at LSU but he was one of my favorites.

He was a heck of a player. Hard to believe that he never played in a final four for LSU. he was in between two great final four teams: 1981 and 1986.

Ice is a top 20 player in LSU basketball history- he was damned good, and hung around the association for a dozen years or so.

Post reminded me of Greg "Cookieman" Cook, who was like Rick Mahorn for the bad boys in Detroit. Cookieman was a very physical player from (I believe) NJ and guarded Big Sam at KY. He was a player you hated if he was on the other team, and loved if he was on your team. A great Tiger!!!

John Tudor prematurely ended Kenny Smiths college career in that game

The cookie thug!!!!! Awesome center. And the Iceman cometh. Two of many great players from the old days. Started watching Tigerball in the days of Pete and been addicted ever since. Do any of y’all remember “Tigers to the Top” bumper stickers from the early mid eighties? My employer sponsored the Audubon Ford Wildcats. Won the. AAU nationals and 4 became Tigers. Every player won a college scholarship from that team. Always a good time to be a Tiger fan. BOOT UP!

I had a Tigers to the top hat.
That game against North Carolina was incredible. Reynolds I think had either 30 or close to it. He was a hell of a player and was just flat out guard and close passing lanes like none other at LSU. He deflected everything. Look at his steals rebounds assist. That’s why he was one of the best all-around players ever at LSU.

Happy birthday, Ice... long long arms and an awesome defender. And Greg Cookieman Cook was a beast. Beat the hell, and bruised Kentucky's Twin Towers. Lol. Good memories.

Great memories - Ice Reynolds can be seen playing (along w/ Scott Skiles) as members of Orlando Magic vs Lakers in the opening scene of the 1991 film Grand Canyon.

I had no idea. Gonna check it out.
Will Wade would have LOVED him. Long, lean, defender, very good handles, deflected a ton, very good passer, handled the ball and threw over smaller guards, etc.

Had he not gone pro early, he would’ve been on that 1986 final 4 tram. That would’ve made the Tigers a tough team to beat was his versatility.

GREAT performance by Ice vs one of the best college teams ever!
1984 was a fun season for the Tigers, til their early and totally unexpected flameout in Salt Lake City vs Dayton.
