Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Rep. Raymond Crews have filed a joint lawsuit against Gov. John Bel Edwards in an effort to halt COVID vaccines from being added to the state’s school immunization schedule.
Landry argued in the lawsuit that the governor has allegedly violated the Separation of Powers Clause of the Louisiana Constitution.

Landry said that by the governor ignoring the committee’s recommendations, “the Legislature is nothing more than a speed bump for the executive branch to easily clear on its way to what is essentially a unilateral exercise of legislative power by the executive branch,” according to the lawsuit.
“We’ve not reviewed the full filing, but the Louisiana Department of Health is well within its legal authority on adding the COVID vaccine to the immunization schedule, where it will be treated like all other vaccines and parents may choose to opt their children out of it,” Shauna Sanford, spokesperson for the governor’s office.
On Tuesday, Dec. 14, Edwards rejected the House Committee on Health and Welfare’s decision to not require Louisiana students, age 16 and older, be vaccinated against COVID-19. The governor’s decision meant the COVID-19 vaccine would be added to the school immunizations schedule.
Edwards said there would be opt-out provisions for parents.

frick Twitter comments. The vaccine is more harmful to school age children than Covid is and it isn’t even close

If everyone that opposed this just organized and refused to even acknowledge it then it would die. Don’t vaccinate your children and don’t opt out. Call their bluff and watch them crumble.

100% with you but...
You underestimate how brainwashed these younger parents are and how smart they perceive themselves to be.

If this is a feature, why require the vaccine?

Exactly!
You are already free to opt in.

Gives Honor Chode a way to save face when something like this happens. He can still tell his leftist buddies that he tried doing what's "right" by the children.

Landry is the highest ranking official in the state who has guts.

You overestimate how much twitter comments reflect real world people and parents.
I am a younger parent. My wife and I would move to Texas before being forced by the state to vaccine our children. We know a lot of people our age who will do the same.

Jeff Landry is the only thing La has going for it right now. He is the ONLY one talking about running for Gov that understands the problems facing La and has the onions to step up and try to do something about it.
I have no idea if the he will win the law suit, but I am happy as hell that he is trying. Other than a handful of conservatives in the House (and literally ZERO Senators) Landry is the only one who gets it and is fighting JBE on every front.
I will happily vote for him for Gov and there is not another candidate that could jump in to change my mind.

Any of our resident attorneys care to opine on the suit?

so is this like our idiot mayor suing the outcome of the voting by citizens to form the city of St. George?
If you file a lawsuit, it halts the issue until the lawsuit is resolved?

It was asked at the meeting and never explained by the people there form LDH, but can someone explain to me WHY, if you can so easily opt out of it, this shot is being added to the list that are "required?" How does adding it if you can opt out change the status quo, where anyone that wants it can take it, and anyone that does NOT want it can chose not to?
Only logical conclusion I can come up with is that these opt out will NOT be accepted 100% of the time as suggested, or that they are banking on a majority of people to not be aware of the opt out provision and allow it to take place.
Thoughts?

Money. No telling what JBE is getting as an “incentive” to add this shot to vaccine requirements.
