How many bucks per year should a resident be allowed to kill in Louisiana each season?

Just curious.

I know in a state like Illinois, residents can take two bucks per season.

As many as one may need; ESPECIALLY on privately owned land.

So, no limit on private land?

Our club is two bucks, first being 3 pts. or better on one side, second buck must be 4 pts. or better on one side. Two does are also allowed, must be at least 100lbs.

Sorry, I think you may have me mixed up with someone else in the thread I simply asked for opinions. I didn’t make a statement.

This gonna be a good thread we haven’t had one since the tailgate dropping one.
It should be 2 bucks one any kind for the screw ups or just so a person can cure their blood lust. And the other should have some sort of restriction to decrease the chances of so many immature bucks being killed by the dog hunters or the corn pile sitters!!

3/3

LA has the deer population, just not the ecosystem to grow big ones. Also, the deer in LA doesn’t need to be 250+ lbs. it ain’t as cold here as say Ohio

I’m always interested in folks opinions on this type of stuff. I’m also often pleasantly surprised by the number of hunters who are willing to kill fewer game animals for the good of the resource.

I think 2 bucks and 2 does should be enough. I like the idea of the 2nd buck having serious antler restrictions.

Our lease has plenty of deer, but I've been quitting after 2 deer for the last several years.

I think there’s a gradual shift in this state from the days where people measured success by the ice chest of fish or the pickup truck load of deer killed.
Don’t get me wrong there are still some that will kill 20 if they have the tag or even if they don’t. But if you go to a good club or a good state you will prolly be limited to either 2-3 bucks.
Folks would then say “ well that’s because they have good buck” well no duh. Don’t get me wrong I don’t believe every deer in la is a booner just waiting on age but all these people who claim they need the meat could furnish their house protein requirements with the amount of money spent on (lease/corn/gas)
35-50 pounds of deboned meat is very expensive per pound

Yes. Why not? How does my management practices in NELA affect “your” deer in SELA, or wherever you may be? You think I’m going to go mow down every deer I see just because the I’m allowed?

There’s already one example of a club that is more restrictive than current LDWF reg.

Do we like freedom or not?

There was a time not to long ago where deer were on the way out the door. There's a reason we tasked state/federal government with management.

Unless your property is high fenced, your management practices affect your neighbor’s land.

Potentially both good and bad.

Due to market hunters?

I find it interesting the restrictions you guys will vote upon yourselves because of what someone else might do.
