He never left power. Pentecostals are a very decentralized denomination and there wasn't anything they could do to him. He owned his own church. He had a pile of cash so he just bided his time. He's not as big as he used to be but he has so much money it probably doesn't matter.
ETA I've heard from people who've met him that he's fairly personable but his wife is a Grade A bitch and the brains of the operation.

They tried Donnie for a while, but his inner douchebag is too strong, and he doesn't seem to be very bright. It seems like they've bypassed him and moved on to the grandson, who has more of Jimmy's personality.

He had an old DC 3 or C 47 back in 1976 and flew around the Southeast to revivals in what increasingly and eventually became larger and larger meetings. The suckers gave him tons of money when the plates were passed after his shtick. On Sunday afternoons when he’d get back to BTR in his shitty old plane, his minions would follow him down the stairs each with strong boxes of cash and coin in each hand. There were 10 or 12 of these guys. Millions of $$$. Every Sunday. For years. No taxes. Then he bought a jet.

In terms of the estate, it's only money if he sells it,but I get the point. My guess is that he probably plays on the up and up side and always has with the money.
He only got in trouble for playing with hookers in Airline Hwy "hotels". From what I can remember he's never been in any real trouble with the Feds or the State
