My Internet and cable with Cox are out. Tried everything then called and they tried everything. They need to send someone out.

Problem is they are charging me $75 for a service call to fix their inability to provide the service I pay for!

Is this normal? Do I have any options to get the fee waived?

Call back and next person will not charge you. Been through that exact issue before.

I think they’re only supposed to charge you if the issue is your problem

Worst case is you buy the service plan for $10 then cancel it next month

No way in hell I’m paying extra for them to fix their problem, DirectTV tried this crap with me years ago with subcontractors they sent out. Told me they could fix the problem but it would be $100 cash, told them to leave and after a few phone calls later an actual employee fixed the problem.

That sounds crazy. I’ve never heard of that unless they think the problem is on your end

Download the Cox app and see if you have a blue or red outage under the ‘smart help’

If you see an outage, go to the chat or text 54512 for a ‘live agent’

Say ‘there is an outage in my neighborhood. My services are impacted. I verified it in the app. I would like my credit.’

Don’t let them come to the house, it’s on their end and the $75 is a waste of money.

My $150 bill has been lower than $80 each month because of outages. This last month it was $23
You have to do those steps every time there is an outage.
Ready for att fiber to come to my neighborhood.

Seems like they would be able to diagnose the problem over the phone. Unless you broke something it should be free.

My fee was waived when I asked them to. Like other poster said it depends on who you talk to.

Tell them you want to cancel your services if you can't get it serviced for free. Trust me, they will change their tune and send someone over with the quickness at no charge.

They only charge you the fee if it’s something that you did. I’ve had them come to my house multiple times in the last few months and every time I tell them on the call that I’m not paying the $75 because there’s nothing wrong with my shite and it’s the bad signal at my house that is the issue. Every single time they used to come here they try going down their little list of bullshite that isn’t the problem.
Oh you need a new box.
Well no, I’ve had three new boxes now and I’m tired of losing all my DVR’d shite. And it’s the signal anyway.

Oh we need to change the cables in the attic.
Well no, y’all changed it last time you were here. They are brand new. It’s the signal.

Oh you need a new modem/surfboard thing.
Nah, that’s relatively new too. It’s the signal.

I’ve had to resort to telling them to only send supervisors to my house now. The contract technicians are always nice but they don’t know shite about frick. I do actually like Cox, when it works. The problem is I’ve had so many problems in the last six months or so that it fricks up more than it works sometimes.

The last chick that came out changed something in my attic and my box literally fricked up every few minutes or so. I was furious. So I went up and changed it back like it was and haven’t had any issues since then. I know it will eventually mess up again because the signal is shite, but I was going mad with it fricking yo every few minutes. Trying to watch the LSU football game was maddening.

Just went through this. Drive to cocks with modem. Swap for new one. Problem solved.

Good luck.

Cox is a useless company that I dropped years ago. Att customer service blows, but wifi is awesome.
