The Saints have resigned Joey Harrington.

I think Sean Payton has a crush on him.

Yeah, they were talking about it during the game. They said Payton told them that he thought Harrington would make a good back up.

I hate speculating about things, but I guess that's what this board is for. This could be an inconsequential signing, or it could mean that a team is interested in Mark Brunell.

Here is the reason for the re-sign!

ESPN's John Clayton reports the Saints have re-signed QB Joey Harrington.
Clayton says Saints coach Sean Payton believes he can remake Harrington as a quarterback. Saints coaches will take him on as a special project

I would agree. With our pass protection, I think he could be a solid backup.

it could just mean that payton wants to put copper on the inactive list and not have to keep him around as the 3rd qb

At least it'll be cheaper.

Just get a generic #3 jersey. It should be good for all the Saints future third string quarterbacks, as well.

Harrington wasn't as horrible as he was made out to be. I saw him make some really nice throws and he was gutsy when he played for the Dolphins and Falcons.

If Sean P. thinks he can make something of him I'm definitely inclined to trust him. I'm just surprised they held onto Palko for so long. I could have told you that dude wasn't NFL material during his rookie camp.
