Isaac Okoro looks like the missing piece for this squad. Elite wing defender from day 1, boosting team defense, currently the team's biggest weakness.

He can play small ball 4 with Zion at Center at times, and can free up the other starters to focus more on offense.

He's expected to go in the 4-10 draft range, so Pels would have to trade up (Pels '20 pick + future Lakers pick?).
Could be worth it to add a perfect glue guy fit who frees up stars to be stars (*think Rodman's elite role player play style enhancing Jordan and Pippen's play)

Baynes/Hayes
Zion/Okoro/Melli
Ingram/Hart/Didi
Jrue/Redick
Ball/NAW

Small ball/defensive lineup:

Zion
Okoro
Ingram
Jrue
Lonzo

Potential future star core:

Hayes
Zion
Okoro
Ingram
Ball

If he's closer to 4, its pretty hard to get up that high.

Personally, I prefer to keep future draft picks in the hopes of a true star becoming available.

This draft is a huuuuuge risk considering the lack of film compared to previous years. Not gonna be able to work out a lot of prospects either. If any year is the year to trade out and be conservative, this is probably the one

Yea I guess it depends on which teams are drafting in that range and how much Griffin values a certain prospect to give up enough to move up.

Hoping for a star from future draft picks is one strategy. But what if Pels already have two true stars to build around, with at least one potentially being a top-5 player level star. Another strategy is to maximize elite role player skillsets around those two cornerstones, rather than wish on a distant star.

regardless of how you feel about okoro, the pels draft strategy from here on out should be to swing for the fences. either trade up for a chance at at star OR trade out and build a war chest for a big trade. drafting role players isn't going to get it done

so it can be done way less expensively than 2021.

1. solid chance pels get 8th. 35%?

The 8th pick in the draft? Pretty much Zero. If we don't make the playoffs we either pick in the top 4 (winning the lottery so to say) or we pick around our inverse order spot. So around 12.

This draft is not one of the stronger ones per at least one "expert". This same commentator said that next years draft will be a much stronger one. At this point, I trust Griffin and Pels management to make the best decisions.

You don't trade up a few spots to make a pick in the NBA draft. The difference between picking 8th and 12th is negligible for the most part. It's a crap shoot. There is nothing anyone could say as to why Okoro is worth trading away stuff to pick over Bey in our current draft position.
I like Okoro and Bey, and two guys from FSU, but i wouldn't trade anything to move up to get one over the other. I do not want Precious.

i dont know anything about pro basketball but I told a guy this the other day....seems like they have a lot of depth, but need one or two more impact guys; a shooter and a _____ i guess depending on what type of offense they are going to run

If I sound ignorant, please someone educate me...actually more interested in the birds than the saints lately

all that is true.

but i meant pels can win enough of the 8 games vs other playoff teams to get into the 8/9 playoff and beat the other 8/9 team.

there are no sure things in this draft.
the two best foreign forwards are slim, dont shave.

its a crapshoot.

one guy i would be happy with is a 6 8 swingman from argentina, bolmaro. appears to have 100% of offensive game.
hes been in minor leagues in europe. in last year grew from 6 6" two guard to 6 8".
i have no idea about defense. he is under 200 lbs. his video is sure slick though.

other guy i would want on my squad is bey from villanova. solid.

bey may be gone at 14.
16 to 21 in mocks.
bolmaro is pegged from 20 to 40.

bolmaro is more skilled but against so what competition.
bey played for constant ncaa contender.

someone is getting the steal.of the draft in bolmaro because no workouts and no chicago meat market.

I agree, he’s the player I want that is attainable for us this draft. If he falls to 9, 10 range I wouldn’t have a problem giving up a little something for him. Maybe another team thinks like some of you and would be happy to trade down this draft just to pick up any asset.

a little something would be 2 first round picks. Not worth it

make some calls. pels first and a couple 2nds. 2021 seconds are going to be as good as late 1s this year.

We have a bunch of young guys already. If Indiana is willing to do a deal for Myles Turner. That should be a deal that doesn’t require you to break the bank and would be the perfect fit.

Ball
Holiday
Ingram
Williamson
Turner

Myles Turner is under contract at $18 million/year through the 2022-2023 season. That would be a stacked starting 5 and you would still have depth.

We will still have relative rookies like NAW, Didi, and Hayes to develop. That is assuming they aren’t part of the trade.

Two first round picks to move up a couple spots? Isn’t that what the hawks gave us last year to jump all the way to #4. Very doubtful It will take much esp with this draft being considered very weak.
